  1. Yahoo! has Rivera in the lineup, not Butera. I was surprised because Pavano is pitching and Rivera caught last night. I wondered if Gardy was souring on Butera, but it looks like it could be a Yahoo! error or a last-minute switch, which could mean injury, illness or trade.

  2. mlb.com's Gameday has Butera in the lineup and LEN3 hasn't posted a lineup yet.

      1. Rivera: 0 one error that was called a hit for 15, 'meh' fielder
        Butera: Plus Defender

Much as it pains me, I guess I'll take Butera.

    1. I hope not. We really need to start scoring 4+ runs, that's sort of the benchmark for winning games for this team.

  3. the a's announcers seem to be reading the wrong scouting report on delmon young.

    1. I think perhaps I'm not paying enough attention to tonight's game, since I had convinced myself they were playing the Mariners again tonight until just now.

  4. Bert and Coomer trying to decide if it's possible for a baseball player to over-think things. Not a problem for those two (former) baseball players, I'd say.

  5. Okay, I'm freaking out. There's a countdown timer on my last LTE. Does it blow up when the timer reaches zero?

      1. Well, considering the quality of most of my comments, I can't say it's not warranted.

            1. Dido. I hate how the movies ruined the ensemble approach in favor of all tom cruise all the time.

  6. I'm watching the free MLB.tv game right now (Atlanta @ Arizona) and the picture and sound quality are just top notch on my new laptop. Of course, this only annoys me further that I cannot watch the Twins via this service.

        1. I'm getting my daughter a laptop for graduation. It took some selling, but I've got her wanting a Thinkpad now instead of a Macbook. That should save me at least two or three Benjamins.

          1. I've got no complaints so far. It took me a second to get used to Windows 7 after 8 or 9 years of XP (Holy cow, that puts things in perspective) and to get all my music & movies back, but nothing wrong with the actual machine. Only thing is I think I meant to get the X220 which has the DVD drive that this one lacks.

            1. No, wait the X220 doesn't have an optical drive either. Anyway, I was looking at several models, at least one with a DVD drive and this one. I think I got myself confused and thought the X120e had a drive and it doesn't.

              1. But those models are ultraportables, so you sacrifice the internal optical drive for a smaller, lighter footprint. I'll probably go with one of the T models with a 14" display.

                1. Yeah, and I was going for ultraportability, or at least more so than my 17" behemoth. Lugging that thing to the archives every day was a bitch. I just got my models mixed up when I finally ordered. And mo chailín has a DVD drive so I can use that if need be.

            2. It's a big, but welcome change. I remember people revolting about having to switch to XP.

              1. I love(d) XP. Like I said, I had it for 8 or 9 years, ever since I build a tower in HS (2002ish). When I got my last laptop in '08 I actually paid a little extra to get XP over Vista, a choice I'm still sure was the right one. The differences aren't much, but W7 is so much better than Vista, at least to me.

                1. I've never used Vista, and your decision then probably was the right one. It's just that the XP, Vista, 7 progression reminds me of the 98, Me, XP progression. Not that I'm surprised, since every other release has been a dud and made people gun-shy about upgrading.

                  1. see, if they hadn't let Shatner direct every other OS and just stuck with Nimoy....

                  2. Oh, God, Windows ME was the worst! I ran it for about two months and reinstalled 98. Worst memory management in the history of computing.

                    1. See, we leave the old basement and suddenly the long knives come out for Micro$oft. Heh. That's freedom, baby! 😉

          2. May save you dough in the short term.... Ive had a MacBook for 9 years that has been my workhorse for Photoshop and traveling and I expect that the little engine that could will keep on keepin on.

            1. I'm not opposed to Macs, they are good quality machines, but they do charge a premium that I haven't been able to justify in my mind.

              1. Oh, totally. I'm a fan for the interface with Photoshop and illustrator. I've also become a fan of their design and build quality. All that considered, I'm not a rabid Mac fan boy. I see the cost benefit breakdown for pc purchases pretty clearly.

      1. Most likely. He's only 25*!!

*He is 25, right? I don't really care, he hasn't really improved since coming here and I'm getting to the point where I can't watch him play the outfield without thinking, "I could do better than that."

                1. I appreciate your attempt at positivity. Really, I do, but that graph is pretty scary.

            1. it's starting to look like an outlier.

Actually, it looks more like a plane crash.

              May Day! May Day!

          1. He started slowly last year, too. He was just starting to hit before he got hurt and this has obviously set him back. In his final 25 PAs before getting hurt, he was hitting .300/.400/.400 with five walks and no strikeouts and he had just 9 Ks and 5 BBs on the season which is a very good ratio for him, but now he comes back probably too soon and is swinging at everything and is 0-2 in every at-bat. The only pitches he takes are fastballs down the middle and he gets pitches to hit and can only foul them back. He just needs to get his timing again. When the rest of the team sucks, it's just hard to be patient.

  7. Twins are T-9th in MLB in GIDP (35) coming into tonight. I would have thought they were higher than that. Most is St. Louis with 54 (!) and fewest are Arizona and Seattle with 18.

      1. The Red Wings are already out, I'm cool with whatever happens. Mo chailín hates the Canucks because her HS boyfriend loved them. She, being a woman of excellent taste (see: Me), of course likes the Avs.

        1. The only NHL I've ever really watched are the Blackhawks the past three years. The Canucks were a major foe.

Though if it makes Morneau hit better I'll take it.

          1. The only NHL I've ever really watched are the Blackhawks

SECORD SUCKS! SEEE-CORD SUCKS! SEEE-CORD SUCKS!!!

      1. Speaking of numbers, I looked over the proof that the world is supposed to end on Sunday. Turns out, it's not mathematically valid.

  8. I'm out. I'm already up about 20 min. later than I wanted to be. See you fine gentlemen (and Bootsy*) in the morning

    *Burrrrnnn Just teasing buddy.

  9. We need to score this inning. I'm not really up for an extra inning West Coast game.

    1. Knowing nothing about the play other than what Gameday tells me, I'm impressed by Perkins fielding and throw to second.

    1. I'm getting more used to this whole "Perkins is good" thing, but innings like the one he just had are still kind of shocking.

  10. Is this going to be another game we lose because we can't score more than 3 runs? Our hitting has seemed better tonight--better than 3 runs worth anyway.

    1. 9 hits, 3 K's, no walks. I want more walks. Hitting has been better, even with Butters waving his noodle bat around.

      1. Yeah, we've had a lot of lineouts though. At least I didn't feel like I was watching a team that was totally incapable of hitting.

    1. I see the exact same thought crossed your mind about 10 seconds before it hit me.

      1. Well, started the inning against a lefty, so that made sense. Now to Twitchy. Ok then.

        1. Perk, Twitchy, then what? Stirstick? Is he back with the club, I can't remember.

  11. Oh, crap, here comes the clown car from the bullpen. How many relievers can we throw out there this inning?

  12. It makes me mad that other teams are allowed to use players at the catcher position that can hit the ball.

    1. I think you're probably right. The bat flip and the disgusted walk back after strike two was called expanded the strike zone by about a foot on either side of the plate, methinks.

      1. I wasn't around, but when I saw that Revere had the start, I knew that Del would get to bat for the catcher.

  13. Casilla's hit about took Gameday down- that was a long wait to find out what happened.

  14. It may have taken 10 innings, but we finally got more than 3 runs!

    Let's make it stick.

  15. Just checking in to see what condition my condition is in. Looks pretty good. Plooooouffe!

  16. Atta Fatty. You may win me over yet, if you never give up another run.

That's a 10-inning game in 2:37. East coast, take note.

  17. Anyone see the ninth inning for the Royals? They were down one run.

Pitcher Change: Neftali Feliz replaces Darren Oliver.
1.Eric Hosmer homers (3) on a fly ball to right field.
    2.Jeff Francoeur walks.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Jarrod Dyson replaces Jeff Francoeur.
With Billy Butler batting, Neftali Feliz picks off Jarrod Dyson at 1st on throw to Chris Davis.
    3.Billy Butler walks.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Mike Aviles replaces Billy Butler.
With Wilson Betemit batting, Neftali Feliz picks off Mike Aviles at 1st on throw to Chris Davis.
4.Wilson Betemit called out on strikes.

So when that part of the lineup came up again in the 11th, down 2 runs, instead of Frenchy and Butler with their .881 and .826 OPSs, Yost had to (he had no one left on the bench) let Dyson and Aviles pitch with OPSs of .470 and .725. Both made outs.

  18. I predict a sweep. The Twins started the season incapable of a winning streak. Their first four victories were followed by a loss. Then they won two straight, then three straight twice (followed by six- and nine-game losing streaks), so to continue the pattern, they must win at least three, but I say they should be going on to four. Anyways, a sweep will be needed to get to four.
