WGOM Radio Episode 1

Episode 1 of WGOM Radio is in the bag, with a minimum of technical difficulties, "um"s, "like"s, and awkward pauses. Please join me and my co-host spookymilk, and our guests Rhubarb_Runner and sean, as we discuss the Twins' offseason moves, as well as some of the moves from around the league.

Our next podcast is going to be T'Wolves-centric, so if anyone would be up for such a discussion, please make yourselves known in the comments.

  1. I would've joined up for this one if I wasn't burned out from this week at the other site, so since I do intend to be a semi-regular contributor, you can probably put me down for the next one.

  2. Yeah, as it turned out I could have joined this week but I forgot.

Love the concept. I'm sure it will even get better as time goes on.

    1. speaking of which, did people call in on phones or was it through a computer program using headphones/microphone?

      1. Headphones & mics on Skype, and then I recorded the conversation in Audacity*.

*Turns out the Skype Recorder App worked correctly. I was wrong earlier during recording.

  3. subscribed on itunes. i'll most likely listen to it on my walk to the bus stop come monday.

  4. Wow, this is soooo cool. I wondered if this would ever happen on this site.
Just curious, how do you do the show if you're in different locations? Is that explained in the show?

  5. Hopefully the Calf won't schedule another visit to the zoo the next time you are recording. I am still interested in joining in the future.

  6. nevermind, i couldn't wait. great job, guys. i'd love to get in on that sometime (though the wolves episode probably won't be the best opportunity for me).

  7. This was a lot of fun. I must have had at least ten B-R tabs open looking up every player as quickly as I could.

    1. I need to get a USB mic/headphone combo. I was trying not to type or use the mouse because my mic is right near the left pinky on my keyboard.

  8. Very first podcast I've ever listened to.
I think the Royals look at the weak division and say "Why not this year?" Win the division with 88 wins.
Tigers will be second, 84 wins. Then a big gap:
    CLE 73-89
    MIN 70-92
    CWS 63-99.

    1. Maybe I am off my rocker but I see no reason the Twins cant push for. 500, at least.

      1. Yeah, I don't think we should be getting our hopes up or anything, but it doesn't seem like any foregone conclusion that they'll be so horrible next year. Last year was pretty much a lesson in Murphy's Law. I think they've signed some pieces that won't necessarily make them playoff contenders, but things shouldn't be quite so embarrassing.

      2. They could. But this is my prediction. I typically guess pessimistic on the Twins so I'm more likely to be pleasantly surprised than not. Of course, I think last year's prediction was Twins in second with 88 wins or so, so my pessimism was too optimistic. (ChiSox first, Tigs third, Royals 4th, and Cleveland last.)

  9. I would love to get involved with the Wolves discussion, but can't guarantee anything right now. Pencil me in, though, I want to lavish heaps of praise on Lubio.

  10. Nice job guys, really enjoyed listening. You were right, it was pretty much exactly this site. I especially loved how no one considered one of the AL East teams for the World Series. (Just like the playoff picks from this last year, no one picked the Yankees to win it all)

    1. Magoo sort of jumped to the conclusion that we had all picked the Rangers, but I was only picking them for the division - I was ready to say "The Yankees haven't sullied a World Series with their presence in a few years. I expect them to do so this year."

    2. it was pretty much exactly this site.

This was my precise thought after listening. Which I guess shouldn't be surprising, but it was amazing how it quickly just fell into an uncanny facsimile of a WGOM LTE thread.

  11. A very rough lineup for the TWolves pod:

    Me
    DK
    Buffalo?
    cheaptoy?
    Stick?

Ideally, I'd like to record this episode this week. I'm travelling Friday-Saturday and then adjusting for a few days. And once I'm in Prague, our most realistic time for recording is weekend mornings (Central) / afternoon (Czech). I'm thinking either Tuesday or Thursday because of the off days, or maybe Wednesday while the game is on.

Any thoughts, either re: participating or scheduling?

    1. Yeah, I'm with those guy that after 7 pm should work. Of course, I need to see if I can find some means of speaking and hearing first.
