Minor Details: Games of 5/31

Toledo 5, Rochester 0 in Rochester.  The Mud Hens scored three in the seventh to put things away.  The Red Wings actually out-hit Toledo 7-6, but the Mud Hens hit three home runs while Rochester hit seven singles.  Aaron Bates had three of them, raising his average to .317, and Toby Gardenhire had two.  Only two of the five runs were earned.  They were all given up by Andrew Baldwin who allowed four hits and no walks in seven innings.

New Britain 2, Portland 0 in New Britain (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats scored single runs in the first and sixth.  Steve Singleton and Mike Hollimon each had two hits.  Brett Jacobson pitched five innings, giving up two hits while walking three.  Tyler Robertson retired all four batters he faced to get the save.

New Britain 5, Portland 3 in New Britain (Game 2—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats scored in four of the six innings they batted.  Joe Benson had two doubles and a single.  Deibinson Romero had two hits.  Mike Hollimon hit a two-run homer.  Tony Davis threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief to get the win, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out three.  Michael Tarsi gave up a run on a hit and two walks in the seventh inning, but was still credited with the save.

Lakeland 13, Ft. Myers 2 in Lakeland.  The Flying Tigers scored in each of the first six innings, scoring multiple runs in three of those innings.  Danny Rams and Anderson Hidalgo each singled and doubled.  Matt Schuld was hammered for six runs on nine hits and four walks in three innings, and the first two relief pitchers did no better.

Beloit 11, Dayton 10 in Beloit.  The Snappers scored six runs in the ninth to overcome a 10-5 deficit.  A pinch-hit grand slam by Lance Ray capped the inning.  Daniel Santana had two singles and a home run.  Danny Ortiz had two doubles.  Michael Gonzales singled and doubled, driving in five, and Kyle Kundson had two hits.  Starter Pat Dean surrendered five runs on eleven hits and a walk in 4.2 innings.  Ben Tootle got the win despite allowing two runs on a hit and two walks in two innings.  Clinton Dempster pitched a perfect ninth for the save.
