  6. I'm trying to extract some files yet having no luck. I downloaded Power Archiver because it seemed to have a 30 day free trial period, but my usual trick ("right click - extract") doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions for someone incompetent and using Windows 7?

    3. It's a tar file (trying to download the database for my OOTP online league) as we upgraded to OOTP 12.

        1. Ok, it seems like I have 7-zip already on my computer but I cannot seem to get this stupid thing extracted.

          1. If possible/desired, you can send it to me and I can extract and send it back as a zip.

                1. I'm not sure what that means. Is the file I'm downloading itself the problem?

                  1. What's the file size? It looks like it should be a minimum of 100 KB. If you downloaded a named Antiquity.lg.6.tar.gz, then it isn't what you thought it was. It would just be an HTML file saying file not found.

      And yeah, I'm positive Gardy will call out Cuddy for that one.

  44. Speaking of frustrating, I got an initial estimate of $1,637 to recover data from my fried hard drive. I balked at the estimate and asked what it was based on. The rep responded by asking me to name a price. WTF? You won't tell me anything about your initial analysis, but now you are willing to negotiate on price?

    I'm not liking this crap.

        1. Yeah, the number doesn't end in a 7 unless some work was done to get there.

          Or, maybe, they figure the number is so odd that some customers will say "Well, that must be right."
