Minor Details: Games of 8/22

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 11, Rochester 2 in Rochester (completion of suspended game).  The Yankees scored five in the third and five in the fifth.  Brandon Roberts singled and doubled.  Chase Lambin and Aaron Bates each had two hits.  Jason Repko hit a two-run homer for the only Red Wings runs.  Jake Stevens took over the pitching and surrendered nine runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks in 2.1 innings, striking out four.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 9, Rochester 4 in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (seven innings--regularly scheduled game).  The Yankees scored six in the fourth.  Rene Rivera had two doubles.  Jason Repko and Aaron Bates each singled and doubled, with Bates raising his average to .311.  Andrew Baldwin yielded six runs on nine hits in 3.1 innings.

Reading 7, New Britain 3 in New Britain.  The Phillies scored four in the first and it was all they needed.  Chris Herrmann singled and doubled.  Evan Bigley and Mark Dolenc each had two hits.  Blake Martin surrendered six runs (five earned) on five hits and three walks in 2.2 innings.  Matt Schuld worked 3.1 scoreless innings, giving  up two hits and a walk, and Steve Hirschfeld threw two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out two.  The loss drops the Rock Cats to two games out of the last playoff spot.

Quad Cities 5, Beloit 4 in Quad Cities (12 innings).  The Snappers led 4-3 after three; the River Bandits scored in the eighth to tie it and in the twelfth to win it.  Cody Stanley homered off Bart Carter to end the game.  Adam Bryant singled and doubled.  Wang-wei Lin, Tyler Grimes, and Jhonatan Arias each had two hits.  Lance Ray hit a two-run homer, his fourteenth.  Ryan O'Rourke allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in five innings.  Jose Gonzalez gave up one hit in 2.2 scoreless innings.  Carter gave up the game-ending homer in his second inning of work.

Bristol 5, Elizabethton 4 in Bristol.  The Twins were down 4-0 after three, tied it with a three-run seventh, and lost in the bottom of the ninth.  Jairo Rodriguez had three hits.  JaDamion Williams, Rory Rhodes, and Niko Goodrum each had two hits.  Derek Christensen allowed four runs on three hits and a walk in four innings, striking out five.  Corey Williams took the loss, giving up a run on a hit and two walks in 2.1 innings.

GCL Twins 12, Rays 3 at Rays.  The Twins scored three in the second and five in the third to take an 8-0 lead.  Phillip Chapman had three singles and a double, raising his average to .326.  Javier Pimentel had two singles and a homer, driving in four.  Jorge Polanco had two singles and a triple.  Drew Leachman had two doubles.  Stephen Wickens singled and doubled.  Joshua Hendricks had two hits.  Starter Angel Mata pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Nick Cicio got the win with two perfect innings, striking out two.
