the first show i went to as a semi-sentient musical being (not including that aerosmith show during their get a grip tour [don't say a word]) was hole playing first avenue. in my defense, live through this was a halfway decent album for a 13 year old that had basically worshiped kurt cobain. that said, veruca salt opened for them, and i thought their set kicked ass. my first hipster moment was when this track hit the airwaves after i'd already been digging on this album for awhile.

I dug American Thighs, for some reason I remember "Spiderman '79" most of all. But I really thought the EP entitled Blow It Out Your Ass, It's Veruca Salt was fantastic. But then they followed it up with an album that for some reason I never really tried, and then they basically broke up, and one sounded like Sarah MacLachlan, and someone in college stole the case for my Blow It Out..., but left the disc in the changer. (They also got Metallica's Reloaded, which I enthusiastically supported in a sort of proto-hipster mega-irony.)
This clip sounds better than the album version, very nice. Drummer's wearing a Def Leppard tee, but still using both arms.
Back when my wife and I were HS sweethearts and I kept bringing her new music without the aid of cable, she made me a coupla VHS tapes of videos dubbed off MTV. This was one of the songs on the tape that we watched a few weeks ago, for fun. We were both surprised by how excessively obvious and blatant they made it: Like OMG, Seether's her name for her lady parts!
I have always been a sucker for the ladies who can rock it out, and this song was one of my college favs. I think it was about my 8th partial year of college when it broke, so the recollection is a bit hazy. Good song.

Hated this song after the third time I heard it. And then it went into HEAVY rotation. Sub-Breeders knock-off with a simpleton chorus that made the Menard's theme sound like Beethoven. (I didn't vote, but I would have given it a 3. Or less.)
I was also 30+ years old when this came out, and not so easily swayed as the teenaged jobu.
Did you listen to any more than the single?
Just asking, I'm afraid to go back to the album because I think that it will not have aged well.
Also, Veruca Salt should reunite just to cover the Menards Theme.
