2012 Game Logs: Game 12 Timberwolves @ Atlanta

Minnesota did their best to do a 2010-11 Timberwolves impression last night in giving away a 4th quarter lead. The main problem for the Wolves last night was Emeka Okafor being unguarded by Anthony Randolph for much of the game last night. Thankfully, Al Horford is going to be out for (likely) the rest of the season leaving Zaza Pachulia as Atlanta's starting center.

Here is a weird gambling fact about tonight's game:

Road team is 9-1-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.

The Wolves are 7.5 point dogs tonight against a Al Horford-less Hawks team. I appreciate these teams having their better players injured to give the Wolves a chance while Beasley is out. It is mighty sporting of them.

  1. I think football might steal a little momentum from the Wolves logs tonight. With that said, I think everyone will miss another Minnesota win. ATL will be depending heavily on the wings and Jeff Teague to create offense tonight. It takes a couple of games to put together a new offense when your number two option is not going to be on the team the rest of the season. I imagine Williams/Johnson/Teague all over compensate and chuck up a bunch of Beasleys tonight.

  2. Has anyone noticed that when teams play the Wolves they try more wacky passes than they might normally? It is like they are trying to show up Mr. Hot Shot Fancy Pants Rubio themselves. The main benefit to this is it helps balance out all of the turnovers the Wolves make.

    1. Al Horton (who drops a lot advanced basketball statistics during his broadcasts) said that Rubio leads the league in alley-oop assists with now 11

  3. So, Wes can be athletic and cut to the hoop- as long as Rubio is around to pass to him, anyways.

  4. Watching the game it looks like Love and Rubio made a pact to make Wes look good tonight. I don't think they told Wes about it though.

  5. So, with JJ hurt and Rubio taking a breather, we're down to Ridnour as the only player on the team that can dribble more than twice without losing the ball?

  6. Adelman and Pistol Pete were teammates. Huh. Sometimes announcers can tell you interesting stories and teach you things, other times you're listening to Dazzle and Gordo.

    1. I'm good with Pek playing defense on Zaza. Interesting lineup on the court for the Wolves right now- actually a PG, SG, SF, PF and C instead of some weird combo.

  7. holy moses, San Fran did a 30 yard QB keeper to score a TD (got the Wolves game on radio, NFL on mute)

    1. I'm monitoring the games the same way. Really would rather the Saints win, but I'm OK with the Niners getting the win, too.

  8. Next time Teague drives the lane, I wish Pek or someone else would make a good, hard attempt to block the shot. I'm really hating how cleanly the little quick guys can get to the hoop.

  9. Pek's tattoo is earning itself some more playing time with his performance so far this game. Better than no-dunk Darko, I think.

  10. I had the TWolves game on in the car on the way back from my sister's just now. I liked the suggestion of calling them "Los Lob-os" I will give wordplay a h/t if it manages to be bilingual.

  11. Ah geez, here I am. I forgot to turn the game on because my wife made me hang the tv on the wall, which meant moving it clear across the living room, which meant moving all of the a/v stuff with it. I need a beer.

Also, my wife is under the impression that it is possible to organize wires/cables for this stuff. I keep telling her its impossible, but she insists on trying anyway.

        1. You know what would be awesome to help keep teams from focusing in on that two man game? If Darko would frickin pay attention when Rubio had the ball.

But yeah, its weird for basketball to be fun again.

          1. When Love/Rubio are this on I can't even complain about Wes and his band of crappy travelers.

            1. This game is my favorite. Tebow could win tonight, and I just wouldn't even care I'm so happy.

  12. CT, you should try to rename your daughter Ruby with a middle initial of O.

  13. CC to cheaps: I just called you with a brewing question that I'll need answered one way or another about 37 minutes from now. Assuming I called a cell phone, just ring that number back.

  14. Dang it, I got a nice plate of leftovers all ready to go with my Abrasive, then realized my brother took the microwave when he moved to Drake today.

  15. This team is afraid to penetrate, Rubio excluded. So many missed three pointers.

    1. Its helpful to have a center you know isn't going to score so you don't feel the need to pass to him. This defense did need a guy to go in and knock a couple guys around.

  16. Is it just my small little feed, or are the Hawks taking a bunch of cheap-looking shots at Love?

  17. Alright, so first off, why wasn't that a foul on whoever that d-bag Hawk was who made that rebound Johnson? and second of all, Ridnour is a moron.

    1. Ridnour made a lot of mistakes tonight, for sure.

I can't believe the Wolves snatched defeat from the claws of victory here. This was in the bag about 15 game-minutes ago.

      1. I'm just amazed that a professional basketball player would make such a Pitt foul like that (they did call it on Ridnour, right, and not Love somehow?). Ugh, just gross. Still an entertaining gross, but gross nonetheless.

  18. So I think that about guarantees the Broncos are going to win tonight, thus ruining my Saturday.

  19. Kevin Love is not happy (twitter)

Don't even know what to say. Eventually we will get respect in this league. It will happen.

    1. I don't blame him, the officiating sucked rocks at the end of both tonight and last night's games.
