Game 10 Recap: Minnesota Twins 7 – New York Yankees 3

once again, sorry, you guys, i wasn't able to keep a solid eye on the game. the small percentage of eye that did see the game is wondering how often the twins of this monday night will show up to other games. pavano pitched a great game (most likely out of spite). the inverted W and W and inverted W boys did great. clete thomas continues to show he is the answer to all twins' problems (and is apparently a great home base coach). also, i've always had irrational hopes for casilla; and if he can keep making plays like this (and maybe hit a little please?), i'll continue to be happy he's on the team.

anyway, please pretend that i thought up an an awesome way to recap these twins actually beating the yankmes, and then comment accordingly. danke sehr.

  1. I get a something involving the Mets when I follow your Casilla link, were you referring to this play (he types, hoping his own link works.)

    1. Well, that link doesn't work either. I'm not sure how to link to mlb.com videos, I guess.

Anyway, I think Casilla could have some value to this team. Lost somewhat in the pile of rubble that was the Twins' 2011 season, Casilla was good for 1.4 fWAR last year. (Just as he was in '08.) He's not going to be a star, but for the minimum, he could be in the top 20-30 second basemen in the league. Even good teams have some guys like that kicking around. (He could also bomb out like in '07 and '09, but hopefully he doesn't.)

      1. He's not making the minimum anymore, not that he won't still be worth it if he can be comfortably above replacement level.

      2. the link is a lost cause i think. new link should work. the video was embeddable last night (not that it worked or anything), but not anymore. socal gets the prize for the link that actually worked.

  2. Nice writeup, HJ! I'd've never considered comparing the Twins in New York to the Characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Gardy as the Huntsman was especially brilliant, as is Doumit as the turtle.

    1. Yeah, I thought that analyzing the FSN broadcast through a semiotic lens was a very intriguing take. Thanks, HJ! I now have a greater appreciation for the dramaturgical dyad of Dick and Bert.

      1. I don't get it. All I see is "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
