  1. I guess it was too much to ask the Twins to score in the first inning two games in a row.

  2. Oh crap, just notice that the Twins can get Cuzzi'd this series. He's at first base tonight, home tomorrow.

    1. He already screwed us once last night by calling Carroll out on a steal attempt where he was safe. It was a tough call, but still, he was wrong.

  3. Andruw Jones tonight, Eric Chavez last night. Is New York a retirement home for players that were good in the 90s?

    1. If the problem is that you're hearing an annoying noise, you might try switching to the Yankee's broadcast.

  4. anyone remember Bobby Darwin?

    Dustin Morse ‏ @Twins_morsecode
Willingham is 1st #Twins player to hit safely in 1st 11 games of season in his 1st year w/ club since Bobby Darwin (12 gms in '72) #Elias

      1. actually, he made it to his age-34 season.

also, he led the AL in Ks three straight years (all with the Twins). He did NOT lead the league in HRs or SLG, however.

        1. They should just make it mandatory before kids start little league. Get it out of the way as early as possible.

  5. Does anyone else find those "deep thoughts" Twins commercials kinda lame? Kinda really lame?

      1. I'm a sucker for the Morneau/TC one, but otherwise they're pretty stupid. Especially all involving Bert.

  6. Well, I'm off to Trey's game. Hopefully, they'll get their first hit. They were shut out their first two games, but they won 9-4 in their last game after getting a bazillion walks.

    1. Span took exception to the called strike (Span was right, at least according to PitchFX, but it was close). He said a few things, quietly, and the ump exploded and tossed him.

Gardenhire came out and engaged the ump and last about 15-20 seconds.

    2. Span faked a bunt but pulled back on a pitch inside. Span asked why that was called a strike and then started to bark at the ump

    3. Span got ejected in one of the lamest ejections since 'Sheed Wallace in the playoffs about 10 years ago.

  7. Gardy was carping from the dugout about the balk call, and apparently Span was also having some words with the ump about calls and they both got tossed.

    1. It's amazing to me that soccer refs can get mobbed and no one so much as gets a caution for dissent, but a baseball player can say a few things rather calmly and get the heave ho. I suppose it's ultimately because when you toss a baseball player, the team doesn't have to play with 8 guys in the field, but still, it seems that both positions are a little extreme.

  8. I didn't realize that the game had started. Seeing "Ron Gardenhire" trending on twitter caught my eye - glad it was only because he'd been ejected from the game.

  9. So how could Liriano have pitched so well in Spring Training? Where did those few good innings come from?

  10. Listening to Suzyn and Sterling. Did'na know but she's a former Broadway actress. Aldonza in Man of La Mancha.

The Duke: I invent false information about a country and sell it to others stupid enough to believe it.
Miguel de Cervantes: Seems a sound proposition. What brought you here?
The Duke: A lapse of judgment. I told the truth.

    1. I had to read El Ingenioso Hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha in Spanish class my senior year. It was a bit of a chore, but it felt good to read a whole book in another language for the first time. Our second book that year was La Vida de Lazarillo de Tormes.

  11. I have to recap this tomorrow, but I think it's well in hand. Screw this, I'm going to play The Witcher 2 instead.

      1. I love the scene in the sub movies where the cap'n takes the vessel down past the point where engineering says the sub can take, the pipes start bleeding, and everyone is running amok.

  12. flipped over to the hockey game for a second and saw Marty Havlat being taken off the ice on a stretcher. Raffi Torres left his feet on a hit. I think a lengthy suspension is warrented

  13. On the bright side, I just bought a bag of Doritos Flamas. Mmm, spicy and lime-y. Thumbs up.

  14. 8-3lead, over a 100 pitches, and CC is still out there. Does that Yankees manager have no faith in his bullpen?

  15. Putting CC in just to pull him for the standing O is kind of dickish.

      1. Hey, not everybody could have given up 3 runs to the Twins. Most would have given up fewer.

  16. With Teixeira, Yankees lose.
    Without Teixeira, Yankees winning 8-3.

    Coincidence?

  17. So, if Doumit is not great on defense, we have to take away his mit(t) and his "D." If he can't get on base, we have to take away his "O." What does that leave us with?

    U
