Game 21: Kansas City 4, Minnesota 7

Finally, I get to write a recap about a TWINS WIN! Willingham was a homerun short of the cycle with 2 RBI and Danny V was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles and 2 RBI. Doumit added 2 RBI of his own and the Twins had 5 extra base hits altogether. Jason Marquis had a "quality start" going 6 innings and giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. Burton and Perkins each pitched a scoreless (though nail-biting) inning and Dicus gave up 1 run on 2 hits and a walk before securing the win.

The boys scored 4 runs in the 1st off of Bruce Chen and chased him with 2 outs in the bottom of the third when they added a couple more. Mauer hit a pussy RBI single to 1st to start the scoring and  Consensual Pork followed it with a 2 RBI triple to the gap in right center. After Mountie struck out, Valencia hit a single to bring Josh home. Marquis gave up a 2 out solo shot to Moustakas in the 2nd but the Twins added 2 in the bottom of the 3rd on a Valencia triple and a Doumit sac fly.

Kansas City scored 2 in the fourth and were threatening to make a game of it when Span threw Francoeur out at 3rd base for the 2nd out of the inning. Pena then grounded out to the pitcher.

Mountie got his first hit of the night in the 7th when he smashed a double to right center. He later scored on a Doumit double to nearly the same spot in right center but by way of a warning track fly ball that Dyson - who'd been shading Donut to left center - just couldn't quite reach.

After working their way from the 9 slot through Mauer to get Willingham a final shot at a home run and the cycle (can of corn to shallow right), the Royals managed 1 run in the 9th off of Capps before he got a pinch-hitting Yuniesky to line out to left for the final out.

The Twins finished up the home stand with a win after 4 losses and a rain out. Next up, they visit another last place team in the Los Angeles Angels. Here's to 1 game win streaks!
