Minor Details: Games of 5/1

Late big innings abound.  The Rock Cats play twelve innings again.  Losing streaks continue in Rochester and Fort Myers.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 5, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER (YANKEES HOME GAME)

Batting starsBen Revere was 3-for-5 with a double.  Rene Rivera was 2-for-4 with a double.  Brian Dozier was 2-for-4 with a walk.

Pitching starDaryl Thompson gave up a run on three hits and three walks in six innings.

Opposition stars:  Steve Pearce was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in three.  Adam Warren allowed a run on six hits and two walks in five innings.  Chase Whitley worked two shutout innings.

Key inning:  The eighth.  In a 1-1 tie, the Yankees had a runner on first with two out.  A walk and a single plated one run, and Pearce hit a homer to drive in three more and put the game out of reach.

Other:  The Red Wings have now lost seven consecutive games.  Rene Tosoni has been reinstated from the disabled list.  Luke French has been promoted to Rochester from New Britain.

NEW BRITAIN 6, HARRISBURG 1 IN HARRISBURG (12 INNINGS)

Offensive starsPedro Florimon was 2-for-6.  Wilkin Ramirez was 1-for-6 with a double and drove in three.

Pitching starsB. J. Hermsen gave up just one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings.  Caleb Thielbar got the win with two shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Robert Gilliam struck out nine in seven innings, allowing a run on three hits and three walks.  Ryan Tatusko struck out four in three innings, allowing only a walk.

Key inning:  The twelfth.  With the score tied at one, the Rock Cats batted around, scoring five times.  Danny Lehmann drove in the go-ahead run with a single.  An error scored another, Ramirez doubled to score two, and Florimon brought home one more with a single.

Other:  Wilkin Ramirez made his debut with the Rock Cats, following a promotion from Fort Myers.

PALM BEACH 9, FORT MYERS 3 IN PALM BEACH

Batting starsOswaldo Arcia was 3-for-4 with a triple.  Jairo Perez was 2-for-3 with a walk and his third home run.  Michael Gonzales was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  None.

Opposition stars:  Jonathan Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a home run, scoring three times.  Ronny Gil was 3-for-4 with a double.  Iden Nazario worked two shutout innings.

Key inning:  The eighth.  In a 3-3 tie, the Cardinals batted ten and scored six times.  With the bases loaded and one out, an error allowed two runs to score.  Gil doubled in two more and the rout was on.  All but one of the six runs was unearned.

Other:  The Miracle has lost five consecutive games.
