Game 33: Blue Jays at Twins

The Twins won last night. It was a pretty good game. Between that and sitting out on the deck drinking delicious gin and tonics most of the afternoon, I'm feeling pretty positive.

Tonight might change that. Drew Hutchison hasn't shown up on any elite prospect lists that I know of, but he compiled a pretty good FIP throughout the minors (2.22) whereas our pitcher (P.J. Walters) didn't wow folks quite as much.

But this is positive day, so rather than judge our starting pitchers by their minor league record, we'll note that Hutchison hasn't exactly wowed anyone in his cup of coffee thus far. Theorhetically, he'd be the type of high-strikeout, low walk guy that would eat the Twins alive, but nothing is stopping this winning streak from hitting '2'.

  1. P.J. Walters full name is Phillip DeWayne Walters.

Looks like he is only the second MLB player named P.J.

  2. How can Mauer ground out to the 3Bman when he is playing Rover in the OF

  3. from the CF cam, it almost looks like its snowing, but its those stupid cottonwood seeds floating in the air. I hate cottonwood trees.

    1. It's illegal to plant a female cottonwood in New Mexico because they produce so much fluff.

  4. I just found out that you can turn the Gameday Scout updates off. My world just got a little brighter.

  5. Newsflash Dick: having a hot September and good spring training also doesn't mean you're going to be awesome.

  6. What? We're not losing? It's like turning on a game and the Twins are leading. Heading out to a Class A 66ers game to go get a Pujols Bobblehead. Pretty good investment for $6. Go Twins!

    1. Next weekend I'm doing the Riverdogs run which is a 5K that ends at home plate. Then, we get a ticket to the game!

  7. I'm ready to declare that P.J. Walters is the best pitcher in the Twins rotation. Yeah, that's right, he's better than Scott Diamond!

  8. Robbie Inc hanging out with the gals.
I think that is a new sitcom on NBC next year

  9. Bautista fouled that pitch when the ball was pretty much over the batters box stripe. crazy

  10. I look forward to the Twins signing Bautista in five years or so when he's a washed-up free agent.

  11. "There are a couple of pitchers, I am not going to say who they are, who feel like they have gotta strike out everybody" -Bert.

    Dear Bert,

Two things. First off, we know who you are talking about. Secondly, you have the 5th most strikeouts of any pitcher ever. That is all.

    Regards,

    Buffalo.

      1. You are going to get that spookied HR at some point, but you might have to wait a couple games.

        1. We're talking HR in the loosest sense of the word. I think a walk counts.

  12. I think I would rather have Butera pinch hit here. In his short time up, he has hit the ball hard.

    strikeout. boo

  13. so Jose Bautista hits a ball about 17 feet off the ground and it barely goes over the fence. Mauer blasts one and it bounces off the wall, a foot from from going over and is stranded at second. Pretty much sums up this game.

  14. Looking at the three guys due up and the bench options, I'm more than a little disgusted with the Twins roster management plan.

    1. Funny how this is one of the videos that pops up after you watch it.

        1. you have to get rid of the "feature=player_embedded" crap.

take a look at one of the music videos.

          1. Correct. An easy way to do it is to use the share link, since it will strip out anything for you.
