  1. Diamond is pitching? Dammit, I need to write faster... *waits to update everything*

    1. Hmm, trivia that's not from Gladden's playing career or the two Twins World Series win? It's a brave new broadcast, eh?

  2. That makes Revere 20-49 (0.408) in June and has raised his BA ~0.050 (.342 from .284) (arbitrary dates notwithstanding). I has really seemed he's been hitting well as of late, and the numbers seem to back that up.

  3. I'm going to have to watch Cain's perfect game after I watch tonight's game. Sounds like it was pretty damned overpowering. Well, also, it was a perfect game.

Ach, Wigginton. At least I'm watching the Phillies feed and can't hear Blyleven say "Wiggington."

Fun fact: I mentioned to a Minnesotan customer a couple of days ago that I'm a Twins fan, and the guy had been at a Twins fest or something where Blyleven was a little inebriated and apparently spent most of his time complaining (and not in a jocular way) about how much of a jackass Dick Bremer is. I don't know, man. They've certainly done a good job keeping that under wraps.

    1. Small Sample Size Warning!

From everything I've heard, Bert's much more of a jackass (especially if he's drunk). He's one of those guys who thinks he's hilarious, yet pretty much an a-hole while intoxicated.

Dick, OTOH, doesn't seem like a jackass as much as a sanctimonious buffoon.

        1. I've heard multiple stories of drunk Bert mooning large crowds of people just for fun.

      1. I've met Dick a couple of times, and he's always been a nice guy. He may be a bit of a baffoon, but he's not really trying to make you feel small. Bert on the other hand...

  4. Trevor Plouffe's hitting is the opposite of meat's house hunt.

    1. Now he just needs to contribute more MS Paint art mocking _elm_n. Preferably in banner-form, like meat's spoonto work.

  5. DPWY, did you see the note about the neighborhood we're moving to? I'm curious your thoughts.

    1. Yes, Sheenie says it's a good area. I know it on a map, but have no personal knowledge of the area. Normally, I'll pass by there if I'm joining her family going to temple or on our way to Plum Street Snowball. It'll be ridiculously convenient to walk four blocks to St. Charles for the Mardi Gras parades.

      1. Plus off street parking. Yeah, we're not feeling too bad about the place. The next time y'all are down we'll have you over for a beer or three.

    1. I got 8 highlife pony bottles for a buck 99 today. It was my house rental warming gift to myself.

          1. I haven't tried yet. I've got a bender or two to work through first.

            1. In that case, it's too late to try the bitter brewer tonight, you'll not taste it much after the bender. Start with one of those tomorrow.

          2. I've had a few of the Bitter Brewers*, and I'm not too fond of it. Could be that I'm inexperienced with the style and I need to grow accustomed to it. I wish I would have gone with Cynic instead.

*one or two left from my 4-pack.

            1. Shit, we're essentially held hostage in this rental market. We've seen falling down shacks going for 900$ a month because the street two blocks away is really "up and coming". We're paying way more than we budgeted for, but like I said it's a dream house that will accommodate two studio spaces for me, and doesn't have any neighbors sharing walls. We'll take it.

  6. Sean, any idea the size the crater would be from a Thome shot? I think it's going to be less than 4 inches deep.

    1. I'm thinking it obliterates itself. We're watching it in action with the people searching in vain for his home run ball.

  7. This series makes me wonder if Frank Thomas could unretire and also still clobber the Twins.

    1. Thomas career OPS vs. Twins: .969
      Thomas career OPS: .974

      He clobbered everyone.

    1. Naw, I've always loved seeing big jim swing the lumber. It crushes my soul to have him kill the Twins, but man, what a swing.

        1. He is one of my all time favorite players. I always thought the FO should have gone out of their way to sign him, and when he eventually ended up here I was delighted.

  8. I love how they never found the ball.

Is this like the time that one dude got the ball stuck int he Metrodome roof?

    1. One of the high-K, high-homer A's. Ugh, which?

      KINGMAN! It was Dave Kingman.

I doubt any fans crawled up there to look for that one, though.

      1. I'll be in my basement room
with a needle and a spoon
and Trevor Plouffe will take my pain away.

  9. Phillies feed rails on Phil Cuzzi for the call in the Yankees series, going as far as to say it may have cost the Twins the series. Wow, Philadelphia. Seriously, thanks for noticing (even though "cost the Twins the series" is a bit strong).

  10. d@mn, had the question, but too slow

March 30, 2012 The Phillies traded Matt Rizzotti, once considered a fringe prospect, to the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations

    1. Plouffe career slugging: .424
      Mauer career sluggin: .468

      Revere career BA: .317
      Mauer career BA: .322

  11. The Phillies have scored 21 runs this series and Thome has driven in nine of them.

  12. Now all we need is Willingham and Morneau to reach base to bring Plouffe up as the tying run.

  13. Not that it'll be particularly useful tonight, but I happened to come across a picture of Butera holding puppies. Does that one already exist on the site and/or get used?

  14. Somehow, I can't get too upset when Jim Thome beats us. We'll just have to settle for 125-37!
