Minor Details: Games of July 15

The Red Wings get a run-off win.  For Myers comes through late.  Adonis Pacheco shines in the DSL All-star Game.

ROCHESTER 8, TOLEDO 7 IN ROCHESTER

Batting starsChris Parmelee was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double.  Matt Carson was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Justin Henry was 3-for-3 with two walks.  Ryan Strieby was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Rob Waite struck out three and walked three in 2.2 scoreless innings.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The Red Wings trailed 7-6.  Sean Burroughs reached on a two-base error.  Tsuyoshi Nishioka followed with an RBI single.  He took second on the throw home, and when the catcher threw the ball into center field, Nishioka came all the way around to score the winning run.

TRENTON 3, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starChris Colabello was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching starEdgar Ibarra struck out two in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Addison Maruszak was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run.  Brett Marshall struck out six in 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The Rock Cats trailed 3-0 and had one out.  A walk to Colabello and singles by Evan Bigley and Deibinson Romero made it 3-1 and put runners on first and second, still with one out.  A ground out moved the tying run into scoring position, but James Beresford fanned to end the game.

FORT MYERS 5, DUNEDIN 2 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starsRene Tosoni was 2-for-4 with a home run, his first.  Lance Ray was 2-for-4.

Pitching starsTom Stuifbergen allowed two runs on eight hits but no walks in 5.1 innings.  Jose Gonzalez struck out three in 2.2 perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Kevin Ahrens was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Jesse Hernandez struck out six in six innings, giving up one run on only one hit and one walk.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Miracle trailed 2-1.  With one out, a double, a walk, and a single loaded the bases.  Joe Benson delivered a two-run single to put Fort Myers ahead.  A walk re-loaded the bases, and Ray came through with another two-run single to give the Miracle some insurance runs.

OtherBenson was 1-for-4 as he continues his rehab assignment.

LAKE COUNTY 8, BELOIT 5 IN LAKE COUNTY

Batting starSteven Liddle was 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching star:  Cole Johnson struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Luigi Rodriguez was 4-for-4 with a double and a home run.  Todd Hankins was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Felix Sterling worked four shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Key inning:  The third.  The Snappers trailed 4-0.  They scored twice to cut the lead in half, but the Captains came back to score three in the bottom of the inning.  Francisco Lindo hit a solo homer and Rodriguez hit a two-run homer to put Lake County ahead 7-2.

BLUEFIELD AT ELIZABETHTON

Rained out.  Will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

DSL AMERICAN LEAGUE ALL-STARS 6, NATIONAL LEAGUE ALL-STARS 3

Adonis Pacheco was 1-for-1 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice.  Engelb Vielma was 0-for-1.  Jadison Jimenez pitched one inning, giving up a run on two hits and striking out two.
