  1. Will there be a time when you can add the "Miguel Sano has nothing to learn in Beloit" tag?

    1. PARMELEE IS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION. He has a 14-game hitting streak and has homered in eight of the past 10 games. And I’ll say this: If the Wings are in the hunt for a playoff berth on Sept. 1, it would be a crime for the Twins to promote him so that he can sit on the bench for a lousy club. Give your Triple-A club a shot in the arm, and give him a chance to win a Triple-A title.

My understanding is that the Twins wouldn't call up players from minor league teams if they made the postseason. Also, I wonder if leaving Parmelee in Rochester is a deliberate move by the Twins to improve relations between the two teams. The Red Wings are finally playing well and actually have a chance to play into September.

I’ll say this: I never have personally had a problem with Valencia, but countless people have told me he is a bad clubhouse guy, a “me” person with a huge ego. I didn’t like how he failed to hustle on ground balls, and I didn’t like him blowing off a Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter for a feature on him last month. Or refusing to speak to the local media after a Red Wings game.

No doubt this factored into the Twins decision to trade Valencia.

I don’t think the Wings will miss Tsuyoshi Nishioka, either. Gene Glynn was forced to play him virtually every game, because the Twins have $3 million invested. He seems like a nice man and was very cooperative with the media, unlike some players. I hope he does well in Minnesota, but based on the past two years I’d be surprised if he shines.

(Emphasis mine.) Me too Jim, me too.

      1. The Twins kept Benson and Parmelee in New Britain until their playoffs were over, so I don't see why anything would change this season, unless they traded someone so an everyday spot in the lineup opened up. Btw, Parmelee leads the Red Wings in HRs despite playing in less than 40 percent of their games. If Plouffe and Parmelee are both for real, then there's a lot to be excited about for the future of this franchise.
