        1. Mostaccioli has gotten a turn or two. Hence Noodles, I guess. But I would have thought that applied more to Revere's arms.

  1. So, how bad is Span's injury? I haven't heard or read anything about it, so I'm getting a little worried.

    1. It was listed as "day to day." Which we all know means "he'll sit on the bench for a week, try to play, realize he can't and hit the DL for more than the 15 days." I'm guessing we'll see him play the middle of next month.

    1. THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!!!
I rode the elevator down for lunch with one of the partners - an ardent Twins fan with probably 15 years worth of season tickets. He was on his to the game. He told me that he saw Cole at Starbucks this morning and told him that the curveball better be working. DeVries assured him that it would be. My reply was that if it wasn't, it would be batting practice.

    1. It's too bad he's had to pitch so much. He's probably fine as a spot starter, but unfortunately he's become a main piece of the rotation. Brutal.

        1. No, he's not, but he's been doing better than Duensing and Blackburn, and (insane levels of home runs aside) his peripherals have been better than Deduno's.

The fact that he's legitimately the second or third best starter on the team is pretty damning.

          1. I'd put Dunce into long relief/mop-up and I'd DFA Blackburn.

I'd wait until Deduno's luck runs out and then I'd DFA him too.

      1. His HR/FB isn't even that high. Higher than average, sure, but 15.6% to ~11% isn't that crazy. What is crazy is the 28.8% groundballs. Ouch. I wonder if turning him into a reliever would work well. He probably would never be an elite closer due to the home run problem, but his K/9 and BB/9 are decent and could improve enough to reduce the home run problem to a nuisance.

        1. If his GB% was better as a reliever, I could see DeVries as something like a Matt Guerrier clone in the bullpen.

    1. That was certainly a rough inning. Four different foul balls off of him including one to the junk and another that managed to hit both knees.

        1. A very enjoyable trip. I may write a recap one of these days, but I would move to Rio De Janeiro (in the winter) in a minute. I may have formed a slightly different opinion if I had been there in the summer when it was 104 instead of 80.

          1. Good to hear it and I'd welcome a recap (as would everyone, I'm sure). Make sure you check out Buffalo's recap of the trip to Jacob's/Progressive...it's got pictures!

  2. Miguel Cabrera there was the first time I've ever seen a batter besides Adrian Beltre immediately appeal his own check swing.

  3. Whenver I see those freeze frames of Prince, I'm so glad I can't hear what's being said about them.

For a soundtrack update, I've moved on to The Boy With The Arab Strap

  4. I'm a little amused by Dick'n'Bert pontificating about how great it is that Melky Cabrera got caught cheating just innings (seriously about two innings) after Dick'n'Bert and the WASTE all joked about corking bats and rubbing pine tar on the baseball.

  5. Just a tough day. Take a day off, boys, and come back strong this weekend. We'll just have to settle for 95-67!
