SSS – 2012-13 EPL Prediction Contest

The return of the EPL season is upon us. It's time to revive the Prediction Contest.
As a refresher, here are the rules:

You'll be given a list of all the teams participating in the EPL this season (below). The goal of the contest is to predict the finishing place of all 20 teams (not their point totals, just position). So if you think Fulham will win the league, followed closely by Everton and Sunderland you'd put

Fulham - 1
Everton - 2
Sunderland - 3

and so on in that fashion.

The scoring is as follows:

  • Exactly correct = 3 points
  • Off +/- 1 position = 1 point
  • Correct Champion = 1 bonus point
  • Correct relegated teams = 1 bonus point each (max. 3 obviously)

So if my theoretical finish was Fulham, Sundelrand, Everton, then my prediction would be worth 6 points- 3 for Fulham Correct, 1 each for Everton & Sunderland within one position, and a bonus point for the champion.

Here are this year's teams and their position at the conclusion at the end of last season for your reference.

  1. Please keep the table in alphabetical order, not your predicted order. THis will make it easier for me to compile the entries and create the spreadsheet to track results
  2. Put your predictions behind a [spoiler] tag so we don't influence each others' decisions

  4. Also, your choices aren't final until the deadline. So if more transfers go down or someone gets hurt and you want to revise, go right ahead. Just put at little note on your LTE that you updated so I know to update the spreadsheet.

          2. Yeah, I was thinking what's stopping all WGOM citizens picking Tottenham 2nd just to stick it to me? Then miracle upon miracles, the Spurs somehow do get second, leading to an empty bank account and some very sticky conversations with my wife.

            Then I remembered we're talking about the Spurs, and my trepidation passed.

  10. Does anyone create a fantasy team through the EPL's official site? We could have a WGOM league if we wanted.

    1. I've played Yahoo before. It is sorta fun. I'm not in the NFL league this year, so I would be interested in an EPL league. Anyone else? Will, would ye be up forrrrr being commish?

      1. I created a league on the official site. 100 pound cap for your roster that can be spent anyway you like. After creating your team, the league code is 1632691-359477 and the league name is WGOM.
