game x, twins @ tigers

Deduno takes on Fister. This game is sort of a 'must win' for the Tigres, so i'd love to see them lose it. We'kre coming to the bitter end here. It's tremendously unlikely that the Hammer is going to gain another spot on th countup, so about the only things we have left are Mauer's hopeful batting title, and the chance to spoil other teams' playoff chances.

That's cool, too, I guess.

  1. that is the 4th times Revere has hit into a double play. that seems like a lot for a guy who is a speedster. but when you bounce it to the pitcher a lot, I guess thats going to happen.

  2. this is the most HR Deduno has given up in a game since his first game as a Twin.

    regression is a cruel mistress.

    1. Mauer is batting .346 vs. the Tigers, .353 vs. the Yankees and .364 vs. the Blue Jays this year. I'm guessing Mauer is the biggest obstacle between Magglio and a triple crown.

  3. did anyone see that? did Casilla get called for runner interference while he was standing on the bag?

      1. I was watching football and flipped it back and FOX was showing a replay of it. It was a pop up near 2B. Casilla was standing on the base covering his head to protect himself from the pop up and Peralta was chasing the ball and trucked Casilla while he was standing on the base. Casilla was called out.

        1. I don't see why he would cover his head... while he's wearing a helmet. If he did get hit on the head, it's just going to make his hands hurt.

    1. I was only listening on the radio, but unless Cory and Kris completely butchered the call, the ump totally blew this call. Casilla has every right to stand on the base. He doesn't have to get out of the way. The only thing he can't do is go out of his way to intentionally interfere with the fielder.

It obviously didn't make any difference in the outcome, but it's annoying to have a veteran major league umpire who doesn't know the rules.

    1. If Mauer passes Cabrera and the Twins get swept by the Tigers the rest of the way to surpass the White Sox, I would call that a success.

              1. Maybe they could have a 22-inning game for 163, then be required by the Commish to forfeit the first game of the division series to the Yankmes because they couldn't get in time for the scheduled start?

    1. If you're going to either, you might as well do both and get them out of the way. Of course, they've done both too many times.

  4. We tired out the Tigers by making them run around the bases today. We'll just have to settle for 73-89.
