2012-13 Game Logs: Game 9 Golden State @ Minnesota

Tonight is part two in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

After Derek Williams molasses like performance, without any of the sweetness, his trade value is down again. Time to peruse the Warriors line up and see what could help the Wolves.

So this trade is going to be a little bit harder to pull off. The cap numbers between the two teams don't match up favorably without either the Wolves giving up more than one player or the Warriors trading someone that would never, ever trade. Ideally we could do a one for one Jonny Flynn for Steph Curry but I don't think the Wolves have the rights to trade someone who is currently playing for the Melbourne Tigers.

There is is. A whopping seven player deal. The idea here is to get as many players onto the roster as possible since most of the team is hurt. The Wolves get a net gain of three players in this trade. Four if you take into consideration that JJ is currently hurt. This is exactly the kind of trade the Wolves need to make to ensure that Conroy, Lee, and the Steamer are not playing 40 minutes a night.

Oh by the way, if anyone was wondering, the Wolves gave Josh Howard $2.15 million pro-rated of the rest of the season. Yep.

The Wolves are 1 point dogs tonight and the o/u is 185.5. I will take some of the under.

    1. Yeah, it might take Josh Howard a couple of games to get his shot together.

        1. Tonight should be a good match up for him. If they play him at the 4 he should be able to overpower Lee, if he gets time at the three Harrison Barnes and Richard Jefferson aren't exactly ball stoppers-- at least on defense.

This might be a good game for Williams to get the paint and put up some points. As long as Bogut is out this team doesn't have any stoppers on the block. Klay Thompson can hold his own against two guards but no one else on this team has proven they have any defensive skills yet.

Did you this stat from the Wolves twitter account?

The #Twolves rank 1st in the NBA in scoring defense, allowing just 88.5 PPG, and 2nd in opponents FG% at 41%.

          1. if he gets time at the three Harrison Barnes and Richard Jefferson aren't exactly ball stoppers-- at least on defense.

            I laughed.

  1. It turns out the numbers I had from trade machine were not correct per Canis. Howard signed for the vet minimum. Also Conroy was cut to make space for Howard.

This is what happens when you write a game log the moment you get home before reading about anything that happened that day concerning the topic at hand.

      1. I dropped Zgoda from my twitter feed
I dont know how he is allowed to write about basketball

  2. Good for Williams, even if he traveled he went towards the hoop rather than settling for a 14 footer.

  3. I believe that was the rare combo of a Kirilenko head fake AND D-Will misses point blank shot.
    *double chug*

  4. Every time Derek Williams makes a shot from the top of the key a kitten dies.

  5. When Williams scores 13 in a quarter it really limits the amount of jokes we can make.

  6. Josh Howard sure lets letting his shorts hang low. Let's get that guy some new shorts that fit!

  7. For some reason I picture all of the baskets Williams has as missed jumpers that were tipped in, but the official scorer missed it and credited it to the Lion.

  8. Remember when I said the Wolves should be able to score in the paint?

Warriors have 30 points in the paint. Wolves have 6. This is concerning.

Of course, that doesn't mean they will choose to.

    1. Our offense wasn't very good in that first half. We settled for a lot of crappy jumpers. When they're going in, it looks great and makes your team seem invincible, but they were never great shots and we eventually missed a bunch in a row, which made us look awful.

  9. I like Shved, don't get me wrong but these jump passes are getting to be a bit much to take.

    1. I ran out of co2 in my keg last night. It sure takes a long time to get beer without it.

  10. I stopped paying attention for a couple of minutes. This one sure got out of hand fast.

  11. Josh Howard currently leads all active Wolves players in All-Star game minutes played.

    1. I hate to spoil the game log but I already know who I want the Nuggets to give the Wolves for Williams.

  12. These team is taking to many Beasley like shots tonight. I am going bonkers over here!

      1. Williams fumbling around and dropping the ball in the paint doesn't count as a block.

  13. I see I didn't miss much. I also see AK still played 38 minutes, even with Howard playing 14 minutes and DWill looking league average or so. I hope we don't overuse our new Russian before the games really start meaning anything.

    1. Id say every game is a meaningful game if your team has not been to the playoffs in 10 years

      1. I want to see Andrei out there with Love and Rubio later this year, though. When you're this short-handed, I think sometimes Adelman needs to accept the loss a bit earlier and save some wear-and-tear on his better players.

        1. I think you both make good points at this is something worth keeping an eye on.

  14. Interesting lineup on the floor here at the end. Three power forwards (OK, AK is more of a small forward but he can play the 4) and two combo guards.

  15. Here's to the next time the Wolves take the floor to seeing a few more healthy bodies.

  16. I blame this loss on the many mentions of Casilla in the gamelog. .100 OPS ain't gonna get in done in the NBA, boys.

  17. this pretty much sums thing up right now

Adelman: "I have a lot of practice plans that I’ve written up that are in storage because it ends up not having the people in practice.”
