WGOM Fitness: 12 December 2012, The Power of Rest

When I went to bed last night, my triceps were still very, very sore and I had a difficult time even dragging my carcass onto the mattress. I was beginning to believe that I would never recover from my Simply Strength workout. However, I woke up this morning and felt... not too bad. My legs are a little stiff, but the soreness in my arms is gone. I am ready for another Simply Strength class, although I'm now in ND, so I won't get one for another 10 days or so.

Last night, I went to another class: a one-hour endurance cycling class. The instructor was an incredibly fit woman who claims she turns 50 in a month. That seems impossible, but I will take her word for it. She really put us through the paces; it was a significantly more taxing experience than my regular 45 minute rides, even with the intervals. I felt pretty darned good afterward. One thing she did was some post exercise stretching, which I do not normally do, but I should. I think I will incorporate some stretching exercises after my regular cycling exercises.

The room in which we were cycling has mirrors on the walls, so I could see my form and also others. I felt like I was probably still the fattest guy at least in the room, but I also noticed significant definition in my legs, which was pretty cool. I'm kind of torn on this class. On the one hand, I felt like I really did well, but on the other hand, it plays into my strengths. I've always had a pretty solid strength level in my lower body, but my upper body needs the work. I should be working on my upper body more than the lower body, but the lower body is the engine that will burn calories and improve cardio health the fastest. I guess that at this point, I'll probably do both of these classes.

Day 141
Weight: 223.3
Total Loss: 61.2

That was a totally bogus reading, but that's what it said, so I'll go with it.

  1. After a rough morning, I'm feeling really good this afternoon. I'm cooking my first meal since Sunday afternoon, which should help calm the tummy. Planning on a go on the treadmill tomorrow.
