Carolina: Julio Rodriguez (Philadelphia) started and struck out three in 3.2 innings, giving up three hits and three walks. Chris Pettit was 2-for-3 with a double.

Manati: Orlando Alfonso pitched eight shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk. Ruben Gotay was 1-for-3 with two walks.

Game summary: Mayaguez scored one in the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and then broke it open with four in the eighth.

Ponce: Jared Hoying (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Mayaguez: Jeremy Kehrt (Boston) pitched six innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk. Randy Ruiz was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.

Game summary: Luis Figueroa hit a two-out homer in the bottom of the eighth to break a 4-4 tie.

Santurce: Sergio Miranda was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Figueroa was 2-for-5 and scored twice.
