1. Still here, so far.

   1. So, was today the last day of the Mayan calendar, or the first day that was not on their calendar? I want to know because I haven't milked this for enough humor yet.

      1. The calendar on my wall ends on Dec. 31, so if today isn't the last day, then we have another couple weeks yet.

         1. The rdg Geosciene & Engineering, Inc. calendar I put up this week ends on 12/31/13. So I've got a whole 'nother year to go.

            1. This is all so confusing. My calendar stopped on November 30, so I think this is all an illusion.

               1. Wait, I just forgot to flip it over to December!
                  Further investigation leads me to a page with all of the dates in small format for 2013, so I'm with Rowsdowser.

                  1. I won't believe the universe is ending until the Vikings win a Super Bowl.

                     1. Maybe the Mayans just meant it's the end of the Dominican League regular season.

                        I believe the Universe will end before it actually happens.
                        But it will never happen, so we're good.

   FMD comments don't show up in the side right column "Recent LTEs", as if they're Forbidden Zone.

   1. I disabled the blocking of categories and FMD is back.

3. Liriano to the Pirates. Two years, $14 million. There would have been much gnashing of teeth amongst the Twins faithful Stribbies, but I like that deal a hell of a lot more than 2/$10 for Correia.

   1. also, Anthony John to the Rangers.

   2. Hmm, so the basically the Twins traded Liriano to the Pirates for Correia, $4 million, Escobar and Hernandez. Ugh.

      I think Liriano might do some decent things in the NL. I hope he does, anyhow.

      1. Yeah, when he walks the bases loaded he'll be relieved to have a pitcher coming up to get him out of the jam.

4. I may or may not have mentioned last night that college freshman boys are ijiots. He was supposed to DVR the game for me last night. FIAL. There had better be more awesome games on national TV, by god.

6. looks like the Twins signed Rich Harden to a minor league deal.

   1. I have zero expectations, but I'm way more into this signing than any of the other FA pitchers they've signed.

   2. Cool. Low risk.

   3. None of the Twins signings strike me as that bad individually, but taken together they seem to be a vote of no confidence in Hendriks, DeVries, Deduno, Vasquez, et. al.

      1. Mark me down as someone who has no confidence in DeVries, Deduno, and Vasquez.

         1. I would disagree on DeVries. I have an iota of confidence in him.

            1. I don't necessarily have confidence in him, but I've taken a liking (rational or not) to him.

            2. If "iota of confidence" means "a desire to see more DeVries LiveJournal", then I'm with sean.

         3. I have irrational confidence in Duderino. He could be the next Tyler Robertson!

9. regarding yesterday's discussion on caucusing, low brow tomorrow night? if so, when-ish? i know we were talking a bit later so more folk could join. 8pm maybe?

   1. I think 8:00 or so as well. Sounded like a few more people could make it if it was later.

      Low Brow is on the west side of Nicollet on the 42nd block. Park on street, either Nicollet or side streets. No meters or anything like that.

      1. Sounds good to me. I'll do my best to be there right around 8. I'll post in tomorrow's CoC if something will be unexpectedly delaying me.

   2. That's right in my hood, but I'm celebrating my brother's birthday tomorrow night.

10. Diamond had bone chip surgery on Tuesday. Nice to see another diagnosis by Twins staff that cost a pitcher months of recovery time. At least it was in the offseason, but still frustrating.

12. also, apropos of almost nothing, but can we nominate Steve Nash as the current holder of the title "Worst Hair in the NBA"???

    1. Is Josh Childress no longer in the league?

       1. My vote would be for Andrew Bynum or Anderson Varejao. And there's multiple others- Noah, Robin Lopez, Chris Anderson (I guess he's out of the league for now), etc. I don't think Nash has that title right now.

13. Billy Bullock suspended for 50 games for drug of abuse.

    1. The Diamond trade looks better and better.

       I going to go ahead and guess that based on what the Twins have already gotten out of Diamond that they've come out ahead on that one.
