  1. Somehow I missed it, but when did the insanity of the 13-man pitching staff return? WHY?!

      1. Now he's got the third catcher. So will they send down a pitcher or the third catcher tomorrow when Plouffe comes off the DL?

        I'm going to guess no.

    1. Along with Mauer batting third. Gardy went crazy with the crappy team and reverted to fetal-manager managing.

  2. I finally remembered I have an MLB.com scoreboard extension for Chrome that I can enable and get to Gameday without having to navigate the MLB homepage. Well, at least it was only a third of the way through the season...

    1. Dick said he saluted the Twins' dugout either before this at bat or yesterday's first at bat.

    2. I miss him, too. I hope the twins have another guy who is as good of a post game interview as he is.

    3. Me too. It was bittersweet for me when they traded him for JJ Hardy. The bitter has taken over after the haul Bill Smith got for JJ Hardy, though.

  3. Hicks has the catching part down and just needs to figure out how to not land on his butt.

    1. Yeah, no kidding- Twins homeruns are fun! I feel like this is something we've been missing out on.

  4. Local card shop got a crapton of cards from somewhere, and the owner sent two 5000-count boxes home for me to sort through and find any goodies. I'm having a nice evening so far.

    1. I remember Yuni being brought up at various times as a low-priced free agent the Twins could sign and thinking "Why?".

I'm still not sure how he keeps getting starting gigs.

      1. To be fair, it tends to be very bad teams that give him starting good. So long as a team is run like the Royals, players like him will make lots of money.

    1. I'm old enough to remember when that was on TV. Been a long time since I thought about it, though.

  5. Twins' remaining bullpen:
    Thielbar
    Pressley
    Spursock
    Dunce

What order do they go in?
If the Twins score, can Thielbar go for his first save?

      1. There's no Wordupthome nor Pr0f3550rF4rn5w0rth on either team's roster so I don't know what way that is...

  6. I get crappy fm reception from the radio by my computer. It's so much better than the newly good reception I get everywhere else.
FM static is different than AM static, but I can imagine.

  7. Any truth to the rumor* that the Brewers' coach is the father of the Twins' reliever?
    *In my head

    1. Of course the guy who has given up homers as a third of his hits would mow down the middle of the order.

I don't even know his first name!

  8. I'm very glad that Segura isn't having this season for the Angels.
    #SuckItScioscia.

      1. Half a game!
        Twins tied for fourth!
        Mini-Sweep!
(or semi-sweep: do the next two games count as the same series?)

  9. I hope that Bremer has another pair of shorts after that Dozier play.

I'm about 99.9% positive Braun is going to hit a massive dinger here.

    1. Then we have “anyways,” a colloquial corruption of “anyway.” It’s universally considered nonstandard and should be avoided altogether. It might help to remember that “anyway” is an adverb, and adverbs can’t be plural.

          1. It is super common around here, so I always thought it was right. In the early days of my relationship with J she pointed it out a few times, I've been pretty good about it ever since.

          1. And in further word nerdery, I found this:

Although considered informal, anyways is not wrong. In fact, there is much precedent in English for the adverbial -s suffix, which was common in Old and Middle English and survives today in words such as towards, once, always, and unawares. But while these words survive from a period of English in which the adverbial -s was common, anyways is a modern construction (though it is now several centuries old).

      1. adverbs can’t be plural.
I've got some work to do over lunch, but I'd like to hash this out afterwards.

        1. yea, whatevs.

"anyways" isn't a plural. It's mostly used as an interjection; in that usage, it's just fine. Well, ok, it's still ugly.

  10. The Twins were just toying with Milwaukee. With eight relievers, they needed a chance to get guys some work, so they told Perkins to send the game to extra innings so they could get them in the game. We're still on track for 134-28!
