  1. So since Plouffe never played in a game, now that he's on the DL, does he have to wait the full fifteen days? Or do the seven days he was on the concussion list count, so that he only has to be on eight more days?

    1. I'm guessing he can, assuming the special concussion DL can transition to the normal DL. Not sure why not, since someone with a serious concussion would need more than the seven days anyway.

    2. I don't know this for a fact, but I would think "upgrading" from the 7 day to 15 day DL would be much like moving from the 15 to 60 day DL in that you get credit for "time served".

    3. according to Gleeman, it is considered two completely separate injuries, so he's out a full 15 days.

    4. DicknBert just answered this. Plouffe is gone for 15 more days because this DL stint doesnt carry over from the other one.

  2. So why did they decide to wear gray turn-back-the-clock jerseys at home? How does that make any sense?

  3. its weird that the away team is wearing the white uniforms while the home team is wearing greys

    but both throwbacks look sharp.

    1. Provus says it's because the home whites said "Saints" and the road greys said "St. Paul", and the Twins wanted to wear the ones that said "St. Paul."

      1. Could the Brewers be using these for a home throwback game as well?
I think I've heard of things like that happening before.

  4. I love how they pick those intense inter-league rivalries- Twins vs. Brewers. C'mon, its Sconnie!! We think they're kinda funny, like an old uncle that asks you to pull their finger.

Quick, name a Brewer without looking... Ummm, Robin Yount? Sam Adams?

    1. After the Brewers, the next closest NL teams are the Cubs (Windy City Derby) and Cardinals (I-70 Derby). If it wasn't the Brewers, we'd end up with something like the storied Blue Jays-Braves series.

      1. Now if all those petrodollars in No-Dak could muster up a team, that would be something.

        Bismark Bakkens.

        Missouri-Coteau Shalers.

          1. The problem is that every road trip would be a bus ride of approximately ten hours to the next closest team.

            1. Logistics shmogistics! I just want to be able to watch live baseball I have a bit of emotional investment in more than once a year.

It'd be better than the god awful busride to south Texas that the American Association teams have to deal with. Gross.

  5. As long as Dozier is batting second I am awfully tempted to do weekly installments of the TsuyoBri Nishiozier Watch.

  6. Wait, the Twins are complaining about having to DL Plouffe despite thinking he'll be ready in fewer than 15 days because they have 13 pitchers? I feel like there's another solution they are forgetting...

      1. just because they've given up six or seven runs doesn't mean you can't pitch them more than four innings

  7. Hard-hit outs all over the place for the Twins tonight. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt them.

  8. These gray uniforms are really confusing. I thought for a second that it was the Brewers that homered.

  9. Dazzle, Carlos Gomez is twenty-seven and has over two thousand big league at-bats. He's not a young player.

    1. Reminds me of an old story about Ty Cobb. Near the end of his life, he was asked what he thought he'd hit in the modern game. He said, "Oh, probably about .240 or .250." The reporter asked him, "Really? That's all?" And Cobb said, "Well, you have to remember, I'm seventy-four years old."

  10. Jeff, it seems the Twins have taken your concerns to heart and decided to hit them harder.

  11. Who's idea was it to jack up this Twins squad with Colby cheese from Sconnie. +10 to you.

  12. saw a commercial for something called The Skyline Music Festival at Target Field. The lineup:
    Soul Asylum
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
    Mathew Sweet
    Gear Daddies

    1. Algonad said something about this on the countenance codex today.
Rest of the country gets the Wailers instead of the Gear Daddies.

    1. I was just bemoaning to my coworker the fact that we have eight arms in the bullpen and the best option they can come up with for that siutation is Roenicke.

I hate the 13 man pitching staff. I hate it worse when almost every pitcher is basically a replacement level guy.

      1. Why is Theilbar on the roster? He's done well every time he's pitched, they've been running through bullpen pitchers like crazy, and yet he didn't pitch in the whole series. Why have him here if you're not going to use him?

        1. Perhaps demotions are like the DL, and if he doesn't pitch, he can be demoted retroactive to last Sunday, so he can be called up again more quickly???

  13. The Twins one again! Does this count as one series sweep or two? Doesn't matter, because we're going to sweep every other series, too! We're still on track for 134-28!
