Key inning:  The third.  The score was tied at two.  A single and an error put runners on first and second with two out.  Terdoslavich got an RBI single and Gartrell hit a three-run homer.  It did not kill the rally, as a single, a walk, and an RBI single by Matt Pagnozzi made it a five-run inning.  The runs scored off Vance Worley, who lasted only three innings and gave up seven runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The Rock Cats led 2-0.  A walk, a single, and a walk loaded the bases with none out, and another walk brought in a run.  Consecutive two-run doubles by Danny Santana and Nate Hanson made the score 7-0.  With one out, a walk and a hit batsman loaded the bases again.  Daniel Ortiz hit a two-run single to make it 9-0.

BREVARD COUNTY AT FORT MYERS

A doubleheader was rained out.

QUAD CITIES 9, CEDAR RAPIDS 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Opposition stars:  Carlos Correa was 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a home run, scoring twice and driving in five.  Vincent Velasquez allowed one run on five hits and three walks in 4.2 innings.

Key inning:  The second.  The River Bandits led 1-0.  A walk and two singles loaded the bases with none out.  One batter was retired, but a walk brought in one run, a force out scored another, a double steal resulted in a third tally, and Correa's RBI single made it 4-0.

Prospect watch:  The line for Jose Berrios does not look good:  3.1 innings, nine runs (six earned), five hits, four walks, six strikeouts.  They didn't hit him hard, though.  Most of the hits seem to have been ground balls in the hole.  Control hurt him, but three errors behind him hurt him, too.

DSL TWINS 11, DSL PADRES 7 AT PADRES

Batting starsGabriel A. Ynfante was 3-for-4 with a home run (his first) and four RBIs.  Jet Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one.  Joel Ramirez was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.

Pitching starsJose Ramirez struck out two in two perfect innings.  Starter Johan Quesada pitched two shutout innings despite giving up one hit and three walks.

Opposition stars:  Ronaldo Contreras was 2-for-4 with a walk and two home runs, scoring three times and driving in three.  Luis Barahona was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Daniel Bravo was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Padres had just scored three in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-4.  With two out, a hit batsman and a walk put two Twins on base.  Ynfante then delivered an RBI single, with a second run scoring on an error.  The Padres got one back in the bottom of the eighth, but three in the ninth put the game away for the Twins.
