2013 Game 60: Twins at Nationals

It's been a long, sucky day already and it's only looking to get worse, so I'll get in and out on this one. Sam Deduno faces Nate Karns, who makes his third start in the majors. In the minors, he walked too many but struck out an impressive number (262 in 216 innings).

I'd love to have a day off for this doubleheader, but unfortunately that wasn't in the cards. At best, I'll see the end of the first game.

  1. If this doesn't go better than the first game, I'm demanding my money back.

  2. looking at the box scores, the biggest 'wow' moment is seeing Mark Kotsay still playing

  3. Good start to the inning, too bad we have Florimon and the pitcher hitting next.

  4. That was a terrible attempt to bunt the first pitch. The second attempt was also pretty bad, but good outcome.

  5. 55 pitches after 2 innings. Dont think Nats guy is going to get a complete game

  6. There's no rain here, and I'm not far from DC. I can only assume this will be a short one.

    1. I mean, I couldnt even find some rain delay music and they are pulling the tarp off

  7. Deduno's high wire act is just...wow

and what a dandy curve to get out of the inning

    1. He's been throwing that thing pretty effectively all night. He's even dropping it in for strikes.

  8. Did alright in gixen bidding tonight. Off the Bay I picked up auto cards of Perkins, Kubel, Stewart, Radke, and Gutierrez, turned my nose up at a Liriano card that didn't look in very good shape, and got a bat card of Cuddyer. One more biggie late tonight.

      1. proxy sniping! gixen.com will let you post your highest bid, and it'll fling it out there with seconds to go. works like a charm for my cheap@ss bids on stuff I have a chance of winning

  9. man on third, no outs and the Twins are lowering that run expectancy stat. woo

  10. I guess Gardy has been retrained so the catcher bats second instead of a middle infielder.

  11. Day/night doubleheaders are stupid. If you can't play the games back-to-back, the way real men do, you shouldn't play them at all. I'm glad to see the Twins deliberately lost both games as a protest. We'll just have to settle for 129-33!
