2013 Game 64: Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins

Rick Porcello

Scott Diamond

Dave Cameron looked at the previous 365 days of baseball so he could point out how good the A's have been. That is the team Jeff must be watching; they really might just win out the season. I link to it because the Twins have a .430 winning percentage over the past year, which would be a two game improvement over last year if they maintained that through the end of the season. I expected this to be less depressing when I started, oops.

  1. Perkins: If you are pushing 97 on your fastball, you can't call yourself a 'soft tossing lefty'.

  2. Dave Campbell ‏@DaveCampbellAP
Solid jersey sighting in club level: Deolis Guerra. #76. All that's left from the Santana trade. He brought his glove, at least.

  3. Hey guys!

I just got back from softball. We won 13-12 with two outs in the last inning on a walk off grand slam. It was the most exciting softball game I've ever been a part of. 🙂

    1. We're talkin' softball,
      From Maine to San Diego,
      Talkin' softball,
      Mattingly and Canseco,
      Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw,
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law,
      We're talkin' Homer,
      Ozzie and the Straw.

      1. My rugby friends in Ireland only knew of softball from that episode, so when I told them I played they all just started singing that.

      2. We totally could have beaten that team. Mostly, because it's a coed league and they would have been forced to forfeit.

  4. I noticed Dick Bremer is saying Arcia's last name as 'ARseeah', not 'ar-SEE-ah'

    1. They've been saying it correctly since a few days after he first came up, when he had family in town to watch him and they passed along the correct pronunciation.

  5. The WGOM seems to be having some network issues. If your comment doesn't appear, please be patient.

  6. Back in H'town after two weeks travel. Rain let up and I finally got the lawn mowed. Our neighbor's property values went up by 38 basis points.

  7. In my two hours at work at the snack bar, I sold $17.80 worth of stuff. That's gross, not accounting for the cost of the goods. Even that amount isn't enough to pay wages for 2 hours. Definitely in the red for the night. The snack bar does close down for July and August, so I won't have to waste Friday nights anymore. The slight bump in my paycheck is negligible for the boredom and aggravation of dealing with the rude kids.

  8. Both Diamond and Porcello in fine form. Too bad we don't have those fans at the Dome that sucked/pushed the ball as needed.

  9. Clete should have had a walk. wowzers, that ball was 8 inches off the plate.

    1. I remember when they had Eddie G. in graphics at the Dome bustin out of prison - complicated imagery to say the least.

  10. Will we see Fielder slide head first into first base this plate appearance? Let's hope so.

  11. I see people keep on saying that Thielbar has not allowed a run, but thats not true. He has allowed 3 runs on a bases clearing triple by the Tigers Avisail Garcia. Those were charged to Mike Pelfrey

  12. As you may have noticed, Rick Porcello is pretty good. It's certainly no disgrace to lose to him. Hopefully, the Twins won't face him again this year. So, we'll just have to settle for 127-35!

    1. Is Porcello pretty good? I forget. Although I am confusing him in part with Andrew Miller for some reason.
