July 6, 2013: Transactions

Dwight Howard is a Rocket. Well, that sure didn't work out, Lakers. Matt Cooke is now with the Wild. That should keep this team from being likable anytime soon.

  1. Sunderland sounds like they are pretty close to (or maybe already have finalized?) a deal for Jozy Altidore.

That would be kind of fun, I don't remember them having an American on their team in recent years.

  2. Ten years ago tonight, this great moment in American history aired:

    1. Ten years?!?!? Oy

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

One of the greatest scenes in tv history.

  3. New grill purchased. I splurged and upgraded from the 18.5 inch weber to the 22.5 inch grill surface. I think the extra 20 bucks was worth it. I'm now fabricating a security device (welded screw eye to the bottom of my new baby, chain welded in place and wrapped around the foundation pier of my house. Yes, this will be a bitch to remove) to keep the evil doers away.

    1. It now becomes a fixture of the house. Remember that when you sell. 🙂

    1. Seriously, if this isn't enough to quite the critics I don't know what will be. /boo.

      1. from a long line of overpaid Twins all-stars like Ron Coomer and Dave Engle.

  4. OFFS. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Giants, Buster Posey just got called out on an RBI double down the line. For batting out of order. In the first inning.

    1. lucky for them, the Dodgers suck. bottom of the second: HBP, infield single, Punto error on a double play ball to load the bases, a walk to the pitcher, Punto shouldabeen error, fly ball to Puig, who airmails the throw to let the run score easily. three runs with only a SF leaving the infield.

  5. Brian Dozier now has a wRC+ of 96 (100 is average) and is above average in all three defensive metrics at second base. He has become quite a valuable player, especially if you consider that he is making the league minimum.

    1. I hadn't realized how good a season Crain was having. 2.0 fWAR, 46K already.
Previous high seasons are 1.0 and 70.

      1. Crain pitched through a huge scoreless streak: 29 innings 38 ks but 19 inherited runners, 37% scored.

        1. Crain's 2.76 xRA and 5.8 pRAA (statcorner), 2.0 fWAR, 46:11 K:BB and 1.54 FIP are all pretty impressive. However, he has allowed a what-would-be-career high 23.9 LD pct so far.
