2013 Game 102: Twins at Mariners

Alright, guys. I'm spent. The Milkmaid and I both made it all the way through the often-punishing Flagstaff Extreme course last night, which is something that only 30% of people manage to do (our group seemed to bear out these results correctly). We stayed at a sucky Super 8 and drove home today, and as low-class as the hotel was, it's still been an adventure to be on our own for this long, which is simply something we've not done since she was pregnant with the first one (and we didn't get real adventurous when she was carrying, of course).

Today, 14-year-old Kyle Gibson faces 11-year-old (though this age is possibly falsified) Erasmo Ramirez, who in ten and a third innings manages to have an ERA much worse than Kyle's. He'll be pitching to octogenarian Henry Blanco, though, so that should provide the necessary leadership to set him up for success.

I'll see about ten minutes of this before I head out to work and half-heartedly watch it there on what's likely to be a busy day. Bring it home, dudes.

  1. Even though it was "up to Jeff Smith" as to when Sano would play again, asst. GM Rob Antony announced this morning that he would be in the lineup tonight. So, apparently, his decision was communicated to the highest levels of the organization early this morning for a night game.

Pure speculation time: I think the Twins brass weren't happy about a fourth game, either, and sure as hell didn't want a fifth. So, they publicly said it's his decision right after they told Smith to make sure he was in the lineup on Sunday.

So, good. Let's hope he jacks a donger and gets into a reasonable HR trot and everybody high fives and smiles.

    1. my thinking is that it might be easier have this info come from the front office instead of bothering the manager while he is preparing for a game.

but I do like your line of thinking.

      1. They could have said, let's see what the lineup card says, but they had an answer in Minneapolis, which means the front office was in communication with New Britain.

        1. in communication with New Britain

          It was in Morse code. · · · – – – · · ·

  2. Fun with SSS:

Coming into today's game, the Twins leader in OPS is...Douglas Howell Bernier.

  3. Carroll should have gave to dollar the Phil Cuzzi, try to bribe Cuzzi into calling a fair ball.

  4. So, while I was gone we won two out of three, and as Meat Loaf told us all those years ago, that ain't bad. We can do better, though, and we will! We'll just have to settle for 105-57!
