Players of the Week

A day late.  This is for the week ended July 28.

Rochester:  Deibinson Romero was 9-for-20 with two doubles, two homers, and four walks.  For the season, he is hitting .272/.367/.441 in 195 at-bats.  Logan Darnell was 2-0, 1.38, 0.69 WHIP with 10 strikeouts in 13 innings.  For the season, he is 2-2, 5.08, 1.45 WHIP in 28.1 innings.

New Britain:  Eddie Rosario was 6-for-18 with two doubles, a home run, a walk, and a stolen base.  For the season, he is hitting .314/.371/.474 in 156 at-bats.  Miguel Sano was 5-for-13 with a double, two home runs, and five walks.  For the season, he is hitting .234/.342/.556 in 124 at-bats.

Fort Myers:  Byron Buxton was 10-for-30 with three triples, two home runs, six walks, and two stolen bases.  For the season, he is hitting .277/.336/.479 in 119 at-bats.

Cedar Rapids:  Jorge Polanco was 10-for-21 with two doubles and three walks.  For the season, he is hitting .315/.364./458 in 391 at-bats.

Elizabethton:  Randy Rosario was 1-0, 0.00, 0.86 WHIP with 9 strikeouts in 7 innings.  For the season, he is 3-2, 2.48, 1.17 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 29 innings.

GCL Twins:  Zach Larson was 5-for-15 with two walks and a stolen base.  For the season, he is hitting .326/.400/.523 in 86 at-bats.

DSL Twins:  Dubal Baez was 8-for-18 with a walk and two stolen bases.  For the season, he is hitting .340/.453/.396 in 106 at-bats.  Onesimo Hernandez was 0-0, 2.00, 1.00 WHIP with 6 strikeouts in 9 innings.  For the season, he is 0-2, 2.73, 1.30 WHIP with 24 strikeouts in 33 innings.

    Third baseman of the future! until Sano comes up for after Gardy demands Sano be traded!

      1. He's been very error prone, but he's reduced that so far this year. This is from Scout.com in 2009:

        Defense: This is where I feel Romero could stand out from other third base prospects in the Twins organization. Romero is a very good defensive third baseman, who has a very strong arm. In the future, Romero could also play some outfield as well as first base, due to the fact that he is a very athletic young prospect.

        This is probably pretty accurate since Romero would have been moved off of third base if his range and/or arm was suspect along with all the errors.
