    1. I was at the game last night and they showed him multiple times on the board. It was stupid but I couldn't help but laugh.

  1. Since Gleeman and the Geek answer questions, I thought maybe we could come up with a question every week and submit it via the wgom twitter feed. Add wgom.org to the question.

  2. Nature education lesson for the day-
I found a painted turtle on the road and brought it home for the kids to look at. I put it in a tub with some water and rocks and figured I'd let it go sometime this weekend.
Then I learned this morning that a Labrador Retriever can crack the shell on a painted turtle and eat the tasty, tasty innards. Huh. Oops.

      1. Yup, very true. I always have the kids wash their hands after handling turtles, frogs or salamanders, no issues so far.

We'll have to wait and see if my dog gets salmonella.

        1. I suggest not eating the dog's feces raw. Cook to an internal temperature of at least 170 to be safe.

    1. Drove my family to Wood Lake Nature Center this morning. MOUMN.org has had a few nice photos from there of birds I'm keen to see. Nothing that cool, but tons of wood ducks and green herons and hooded mergansers. Two cormorants. Got to see the green herons up close and personal. An adult was watching a juvenile fish. We'll go back there with some regularity, I think, even if it is a half-hour drive.

Regarding turtles, they've got a Blanding's in a tank in the nature center.

      1. So what was the bird that was at Target Field the last couple of games? I only saw one picture in a game recap and it looked like a mourning dove to me, but I didn't know if that was the actual bird or if it was just the first pic a Google Image search pulled up.

      2. This reminds me... I've sought out both the Cattle Egret and the Blue Grosbeak in this area only to be skunked on both. The Grosbeak I've tried for 4 times now. Gah.

        1. Bummer. No idea about the Blue Grosbeak, but the Cattle Egret was ridiculously easy for our family.

          1. I think it just wasn't there when we were there.

Also, there were no cattle when we went by.

      3. Ooh, Wood Lake is in my neck of the woods (my two best friends growing up had back yards that bordered on the Nature Center). One time, a turtle got lost and wandered all the way to my parents' old house (about 5 blocks away).

  3. Since May 28, Brian Dozier is batting .263/.351/.470 with a BABIP of .284. So, he's been unlucky and very good at the same time, which is what we saw last night when two of the three hardest balls he hit were outs. Dozier's WPA just for last night was .669.

  4. Saw Dozier's walk-off on the screen at Plan B this afternoon - and ensuing gatorade shower. W00t!

  5. I tripped over my laptop power cord earlier this afternoon and sent it crashing to the floor (as well as unleashing a torrent of profanity. My temper has been something lately). Upon reboot (YES!), I found out only about 10 keys worked on the keyboard (NO!). I did a backup (which, silver-lining wise, was sorely needed, so I got that off the to-do list) just to be safe before I cracked it open. As you can see, I have all my letters back. It was as I suspected a loosened flexible flat cable, which I reseated. I was really pissed off/worried there for awhile because I can in no way afford to replace anything right now.

    1. I don't know why more manufacturers don't develop their own magnetic power supply connection like Apple has. It would prevent a lot of mishaps like the one you experienced.
