2013 Game 133: Minnesota Twins at Texas Rangers

Liam Hendriks
v
Yu Darvish

With Deduno on the DL, the Twins need to give Hendriks the rest of the season to prove whether he can be even a mediocre starter.

      1. Where would you set it? I guess I was thinking just for Darvish, probably should give the bullpen a least a couple.

  1. this is the first time I will be able to watch a full game since Sunday

well, that is if I can stomach the stench of a Mauerless lineup

  2. Phil Miller ‏@MillerStrib

These HRs come on significant anniversary: Exactly 1 week since Twins last scored more than 1 run. (7th inning last Fri, 53 innings ago).

  3. Dustin Morse ‏@Twins_morsecode
With the home run, Justin Morneau passes Tony Oliva & now ranks 3rd on the #MNTwins all-time list with 221.

    not bad

  4. smart take by Smalley, good camera angles showing Mastro telling Plouffe to do something other than 'get down'

  5. FSN talking up Roenicke's ERA since All-Star break (1.29) while conveniently ignoring that a third of his inherited runners have scored.

    1. League average is 30%. Twins have the league worst with 35%; Roenicke was at 36% over the above time span before today's appearance.

  6. baseball is a funny game

the Twins have no business winning this game, yet here we are.

    puppies!

  7. Liam Hendricks beats Yu Darvish in Texas. One of the biggest upsets of the year as the Twins were +360. Meaning if you had bet $100 on the Twins tonight you would have walked away with $360. Most lines are around 125-150.

    1. I was just coming here to link to that. Woof.

And on a related note, doesn't the pitcher have to stay in contact with the pitching rubber until he releases the ball? Am I making up rules in my head now? Probably.

      1. hmmm, maybe. the one time this year Bert Blyleven was breaking down pitching mechanics, he was stressing the pitcher should push off the rubber. If you are pushing off, your foot would not be on the rubber when releasing

  8. Just as we all expected, Liam Hendriks showed Yu Darvish how it's done, Chris Herrmann was the herro, Morneau moved into third on the Twins home-run list, and we cruised to an easy victory. We're still on track for 87-75!
