The PTBNL is Robby Incmikoski. Welcome back, Robby! #morneau

    1. Good numbers in AAA, hasn't done a lot in the majors. Turned 28 about a month ago. The temptation is to say, "just what we need, another AAAA player", but maybe the Twins scouts see something in him. I'd rather have a low-minors prospect, like Miguel Sulbaran, but maybe that deal wasn't available.

    2. I won't be cruel, but he's a big hunk of burning love.
A teddy bear, if not at times too much a hound dog with a wooden heart. He'll surprise you one night in a blue moon with some slick fielding, but when his batting slumps it goes way down. Don't get me wrong, he won't surrender, and he's good luck charm. But he just may be the devil in disguise. Despite all that, Twins fans may want him, need him, and love him in the end for his tender touch until its time for him to go.

Blue suede shoes rubberneckin in the ghetto.

  1. My kids aren't really excited by this.
    Out family's shirseys:
Span, Span, Morneau, Nishioka, Mauer (2003 vintage, worn to heck, I wear it as PJs).

Sigh. This is like when Cuddy left.

  2. ugh, stupid MLB and its YouTube policy. I cant find video of that time Morneau destroyed a Joel Zumaya heater. I think that ball is still in orbit.

  3. Tweet from Glen Perkins:

I heard Morneau is gonna catch with Russell Martin moving to shortstop for the Pirates.

    1. I was hoping this would be one of those cool embedded things where you would click the play icon to hear the song. Oh well.

      1. This.

        farewell, Mountie. We'll miss you.

At least he's going to Minnesota Twins East (Liriano, Garrett Jones). I hope they make the playoffs.

  4. Morneau says thank you

First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of the Twins fans. I would also like to thank the Minnesota Twins organization for giving me a chance to realize my dream of being a Major League baseball player. I was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1999. Since that day I have been very proud and fortunate to call myself a Minnesota Twin.

I was a wide-eyed 22 year kid when I made my big league debut in 2003. I received a warm welcome that day and have felt welcomed ever since. I feel like I was a kid when I first got here, but was able to grow up in this organization and become someone my friends and family could be proud of. My wife, kids and family are Minnesotans and this has become my second home. Minnesotans are some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met.

I am sorry that during my time here we weren't able to achieve our ultimate goal of winning the World Series, but I will forever carry many wonderful memories of my time here. I will always cherish every day I was lucky enough to play in front of you fans in a Minnesota uniform.

Thank you for all of your support throughout the years.

    Your friend, Justin Morneau

  5. Well, now the only shirsey I have that's valid is Mauer (Span and Morneau being the others). This makes me sad, but of all the teams he could've gone to, I'm very very very excited that he went to Pittsburgh. I had already decided that Pittsburgh was going to be my rooting interest in this year's playoffs, and now that has been cemented.

My Cardinal fan friends are not going to be happy about this, but I don't freakin' care. I'll let their 2 WS in the last 7 years comfort them, the jackasses. I want the pirates to plunder that title this year!

  6. I knew this would happen, but I'm still sad. What a trip that first decade of the millennium was.
