   1. Can't really argue with any of those.

      1. Except that probably means only one more LiveJournal update.

         1. Maybe. I wouldn't expect De Vries to be a hot property. He could wind up with Rochester in the spring and make an appearance if/when the Twins fail at pitching again. Though Rochester might not really want him, either.

               I don't know about Roenicke.

9. I hate that there's no good strategic reason to criticize all of these playoff pitching changes. Sure, some are unnecessary, but in general pitchers are most effective the first time through the order, and if you have a billion pitchers to use, plus a ton of rest days, it makes sense to go a little bonkers.

   1. Plus, the team can set a roster for just this game.

   2. I hate it just because of 4-hour games. Francona was managing like this against the Twins with 4-run leads and no one base. It was awful. That's the main reason I don't want the Indians to win.

12. Did Longoria really need to cover second on that? Seems unnecessary in that situation.

    1. Also, nitpicking, Loney got the ball awfully quick, would 3-6-3 have been too risky?

       the only thing I can think of is that he was going to backup the secondbase man in case of a throw to second to start a rundown

       1. That makes more sense than anything I could think of, but I'd think that an OF could get there in time for rundown assistance. I suppose the pitcher's instinct is towards first base since he could be needed for a 3-6-1 if the ground ball pulls Loney very far off the base. And I didn't see where the 2B was, on a lot of those shifts the 2B plays pretty far out in the grass so the 2B couldn't have covered first if Loney was pulled away from it.

14. Delmon has little chance against Masterson in general--I'm surprised that TB isn't spotting Young more against finesse pitchers.
