MLB Championship Series Doubleheader

After playing until 12:30 last night, the Dodgers-Cardinals series has the early start in Game 2. 3 pm TBS Kershaw for the Dodgers, Wacha for the Redbirds. With Hanley Ramirez's injured, Nick Punto will get the start at SS for the Dodgers. I expect many many 'sliding into first' jokes and they will all be glorious.

FOX finally gets into the MLB Playoffs with the ALCS getting underway in Boston. Sanchez throws for Detroit, Lester for the Sox. Gametime is 7pm

  1. Not a great defensive showing by Puig. Not anything egregious, but several little things helped Carpenter make it to third easily.

  2. pitcher in the sun, in between the mound and the plate is in the shadow, batters box in the sun.
    tough conditions

  3. Punto started at shortstop for the Dodgers. And apparently he's Danny DeVito's favorite player as well.

    1. I mentioned that in a game log a few weeks ago and registered my disgust for DeVito. I'm not surprised a man from his generation loves a sh***y player that looks like he tries really hard, though.

  4. the Cardinals are wearing throwback uniforms today
their current uniforms are sweet, but these are sweeter.

      1. I'm pulling for the BoSox. Detroit has become even more unlikeable than them in recent years, though most of that is Cabrera's fault.

              1. It was reported that the Tigers' 2012 post-division-clinching celebration held in the clubhouse in Kansas City was not attended by Cabrera, who desired to abstain from the festivities, even though the dousing "champagne" was non-alcoholic.[58]

I can't stand the guy, but I do have to credit him for trying to fix a problem that clearly needs fixing.

    1. Orval Overall unquestionably would deserve to rank highly on the list of the 100 Greatest Cubs for just one singular achievement. He is one of only two men ever to stand on the mound and record the final out to clinch a Cubs World Series victory. (Three Finger Brown is the other.) While there is sadly no video, Retrosheet dryly records the final out of Game Five of the 1908 Series thusly: "Schmidt grounded out (catcher to first); 0 R, 0 H, 0 E, 0 LOB. Cubs 2, Tigers 0." Happily, Tim McCarver was not in the park to mar this still-blissful memory.

  5. why ingame player interviews are dumb. Scherzer telling a story and then all heck breaks loose.

  6. This postseason feels like there are an unusual number of games that are perfect/a no-hitter into the middle of the game.

  7. you know things are going 'good' when Joe West has been the #1 trending item on twitter.

  8. OK, two minutes into my first baseball watching of the postseason and I'm already hoping the Tigers sweep the series.
Buck and McCarver complaining about a 2-out, 3-1 pitch being called a strike? Gameday has in in the strikezone (along with pitch 1, which was called a ball). F--- the entitled Boston fans.

  9. Hey! Fan interference for the Ground-rule double that benefits the BoSox!
Any fricking complaints about that, you sycophant Buck?

  10. I don't know what anyone's splits are, but Leyland's risking finding a Tigers' reliever who's not on.
I was wondering if Veras would/could pitch the 9th, the way he was nicking the corners.

  11. The cutaways to everyone in the crowd from the Boston fans to the Tigers owner make me wish both teams would lose.

  12. Well, no reason to watch this anymore *looks around for the remote, doesn't find it*. Whatever, guess I'll see how this thing turns out.

  13. Dang, I wanted the no-hitter sealed on a really bad strike 3 call: only like an inch on the black, and just a few inches above the knees.

    1. If you can't tell, from the point I joined the game, the complaints about the ump are hypercritical.

  14. Berry should have stuck around second and called out "Got it!"
Just because I wanna see BoSox fans work themselves around defending that.
Oh, and it was their best chance to win the game.
