Saturday, October 19, 2013, Fall Double

Got in a nice 5mi run with the gang at my running store this morning.  Everyone is still a little sore from last week's Hartford Half Marathon.  And since my club closes at 1 on Sat, I got in there in time to get in some laps as well.

Healthy recovery lunch:  Greek salad

baby spinach, sliced cucumbers, sliced red onion, crumbled Feta cheese, Kalamata olives, garden tomatoes, green pepper and this Greek salad dressing (from the Frugal Chef, remember that boyo?): 3 parts Greek olive oil, 1 part fresh lemon juice, oregano, salt 'n pepper to taste.

NPR Opera today at 2EST is Adamo's The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

AND:  Florida State (6) at Clemson(3) tonite at 8EST.  Vegas has Tiggers by 3 clicks.  Go Noles!

    Might I suggest you add a <more> tag after the first paragraph to make the sidebar a little tidier?

  2. The Good: I ran a PR 5k on Sunday. My splits on the first two miles were sub 8-minutes although my last mile was a bit ugly at nearly 9 minutes. It was my first 5K where I broke the 26-minute barrier.

    The Bad: Since my long awaited hunt in September, I've fallen off of the level of focus I'd been giving nutrition and fitness since earlier in the year. I've only been exercising once a week or so and haven't counted calories in weeks. I also have had much more soda than I'd like to admit. I've also been on a couple of business trips where I've completely fallen apart... most recently last weekend to New Orleans (although the food was fantastic).

    The Ugly: I've done a 5 lb backslide into my progress. I'm back around 187 lbs. This is a weight I would have been ecstatic to be 9-months ago, but now it's little more than disappointing. I can see the physical difference in my body with this slight weight gain. And I continue to become more and more bald... although this has nothing to do with my weight.

    The Plan: Insanity starts again tonight. Diet has improved the last two days and I have no big trips planned so I should be able to stay the course. I've updated my goals in myfitnesspal to give me guidance.

    The Goal: 175 lbs by 12-31-13.
