Dominican League: Games of 10/25

No big innings here.  Low-scoring games abound.  The only Twin to play, Chris Herrmann, took an oh-ferr.

CIBAO 2, ORIENTE 1 IN ORIENTE

Twins:  Chris Herrmann (Oriente) was 0-for-3.

Cibao:  Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Kevin Pucetas (Texas) struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.

Oriente:  Dean Anna (San Diego) was 2-for-4.  Bruce Billings (Oakland) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Cibao scored single runs in the first and fourth.  Oriente did not get on the board until the ninth, when Nelson Perez led off with a home run.  Oriente went on to put runners on first and third with one out, but a popup and a ground out ended the threat.

ESCOGIDO 4, ESTE 2 IN ESCOGIDO

Este:  Angelys Nina (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.  Eugenio Velez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.  Jordan Pacheco (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Escogido:  Edward Salcedo was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Allen Webster pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk.

The game:  Escogido scored two in the first and two in the third to go ahead 4-0.  Este came back with one in the third and one in the seventh but never got the tying run on base.

AGUILAS 4, LICEY 1 IN AGUILAS

Licey:  Domingo Santana (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run.

Aguilas:  Dan Black (White Sox) was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Francisco Pena (Mets) was 2-for-4.  Angel Castro (Dodgers) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Aguilas scored single runs in the first, second, third, and sixth to go ahead 4-0.  Santana led off the eighth with a home run for the lone Licey score.  Licey did bring the tying run up to bat with one out in the eighth, but a double play ended the threat.
