    1. He struck out the first six consecutive batters. So when he writes his name in capital letters in the record books, that “W” stands out even more than the A-I-N-W-R-I-G-H-T.

    1. I think I'm pulling for him. But as an indication of how much I'm paying attention, the WS game is on previous channel and the "Parks & Rec" bloc on FXX is my main viewing this evening.

    1. I just looked at what gameday said happened.
Did Matheny really sac bunt the runner at first with the batter before the pitcher?

  1. That HR sounded really good, like Holliday couldn't have gotten it more on the sweet spot.

    1. I might even argue that striking out on a foul bunt is the lamest way to get yourself out. You purposely set your sights low, and you still failed. Even with a strikeout looking, you could be giving a decent effort to get a hit.

    1. Yeah, that was pretty unexpected / awesome. I can't believe I just said mutual butt slaps are awesome.

    1. Maybe. I don't feel like he did anything artful to avoid the tag, though, so I'm cool with not being too technical about it to keep the catcher somewhat more safe.

        1. Sure, yeah. Actually, on the replay, it seemed like Ross may have landed on Molina's glove before any part of him hit the plate. Weird slide.

  2. That is a hilarious hit for Ortiz. Such a slow, deep roller that even he could run it out.

      1. I'm not quite ready to start calling him "wheels", but I might be willing to call him "wheel".

  3. Oooh, double switch, everyone break out their thinking cap, this game's about to get cerebral!

  4. It's safe to assume the Cards will come back in the 9th and win it, right? So I can go to bed.

  5. Oh, mama. The Louisiana lottery just broke into the feed to announce the winning numbers. Baseball is dead (in Louisiana).

  6. Left-handed Red Sox starters in the World Series--yeah, I bet that's a big group to begin with.
