  1. I did write one, so I'm not sure where the hell it went. I said "I resolve to stop coughing, because the last four days have been ridiculous." Last night I fell asleep at ten because coughing had kept me up most of the night, two nights in a row. Now last night has made it three. Ugh.

      1. I've had bronchitis twice since 2008, so I wouldn't be shocked if this was round three. I lost a good portion of my sense of smell last time. It comes in handy occasionally, but for the most part, it's a bummer.

        1. Mrs. Runner and I picked up something bronchial-wise when we were there a dozen years ago; I think it took an albuterol inhaler and something else to kick it. 'Course, you were just up on MN recently, so you could have brought something home from there, too.

          1. I do have albuterol on me most of the time (I'm asthmatic...not sure if I've ever brought that up here). I've needed a few pulls in the past few days...maybe it's time to load up and get so high I don't care how much I cough.

  2. So this morning, I got a phone call from the hospital at 5:25 asking me to go out there because of an emergency. I was there until about nine. I was home for ten minutes, then got a call from the nursing home asking me to go there because of an emergency. I got home a little after noon. The life of a pastor, I guess, but not exactly an auspicious start to 2014.

  3. I'm not one to make resolutions, but one of my goals this year is to be a bit more paperless. We replaced the dead shredder, which I got installed, and while cleaning a bit I've found recovery disks for the old laptop -- looks like I've managed to resurrect it after several months of corrupt file non-bootability. I'll be emptying it of photos and other worthwhile files, uninstalling software, and prepping it for donation or hand-me-down status.

Got a flurry of baseball card trades worked out (or close to, anyway) which is also nice.

In a few days Runner daughter and a friend leave for Disney World for several days, and of course our coldest days in several years will hit then, when I'll be walking the dog in the mornings and evenings. While I'm not excited about it, I will definitely not complain about cold weather here; back home they're expecting a low of -33F during that timeframe.

  4. Just signed up for my first 2014 tri-event. Try-athlon in Simsbury, 5/18. 3.6mile river to ridge hill run from the Farmington River to Penwood State Forest ridge, then 11.5 mile biking course, then two-mile kayak route on the Farmington River to Weatogue.

    1. They have one of those in Minneapolis that I'v been eyeing. Five k run, 3k kayak, and 10k mountain bike all in Minneapolis.
