Minor Details: Games of April 10

Adam Brett Walker II hits his third homer!  Ryan Eades gives up only an unearned run in seven innings!  Eduardo Nunez is hitting .667!

ROCHESTER 4, LEHIGH VALLEY 2 IN LEHIGH VALLEY

Batting stars:  Wilkin Ramirez was 2-for-2 with two walks and two doubles, scoring once.  Deibinson Romero was 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, and an RBI.  Eric Fryer was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Logan Darnell started and struck out five in four innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and three walks.  Edgar Ibarra struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk.  Michael Tonkin pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Jim Murphy was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Phillippe Aumont struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

The game:  Fryer hit a two-run double in the second to give Rochester a 2-0 lead.  An error, a wild pitch, and a single put Lehigh Valley on the board in the fourth.  Romero doubled in a run in the fifth and Chris Rahl had an RBI single in the sixth to put the Red Wings up 4-1.  Maikel Franco's RBI single cut the lead to 4-2 in the seventh.  The IronPigs had men on first and second with two out, but a fly out ended the inning and Lehigh Valley did not get the tying run on base again.

Of note:  Chris Parmelee was 0-for-5.  Eduardo Nunez was 2-for-3 with a run.

PORTLAND 6, NEW BRITAIN 4 IN PORTLAND

Batting stars:  Nate Hanson was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Pitching star:  Adrian Salcedo pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Carlos Rivero was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Mookie Betts was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs.  Keith Couch struck out five in 5.2 innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits and a walk.

The game:  Vargas hit a sacrifice fly in the first to give New Britain a 1-0 lead.  Portland took the lead in the second on two doubles, a single, and a ground out.  A run in the fourth, Rivero's two-run single in the fifth, and a triple-and-error by Betts in the seventh built the SeaDogs lead to 6-1.  A Hanson single and three wild pitches cut the lead to 6-2 in the eighth.  A single, a double, and two more singles made it 6-4 and left men on first and third with two out in the ninth, but Daniel Ortiz grounded out to end the game.

Of note:  D. J. Baxendale started and pitched six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

FORT MYERS 4, CHARLOTTE 1 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Stuart Turner was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Duffey pitched six innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  David Hurlbut pitched two shutout innings, giving up three hits with one strikeout.  Madison Boer pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one walk and striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Thomas Coyle was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double.  Parker Markel pitched two shutout innings, giving up three hits with one strikeout.

The game:  Charlotte's run came in the first on an error and two singles.  A Walker fourth-inning homer tied it at one.  In the fifth, Niko Goodrum singled in one, Levi Michael doubled in another, and Polanco singled in a third to put Fort Myers up 4-1.  The biggest Stone Crabs threat after that came in the seventh, when a pair of one-out singles brought the tying run up to bat.  A double play ended the inning.

Of note:  Dalton Hicks was 1-for-4 with a double.  Max Kepler was 0-for-3.

CEDAR RAPIDS 11, GREAT LAKES 2 IN GREAT LAKES

Batting stars:  Jason Kanzler was 3-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three.  Logan Wade was 2-for-6 with a triple and two RBIs.  Mitch Garver was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once.

Pitching stars:  Ryan Eades pitched seven innings, giving up an unearned run on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts.  Josue Montanez pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Joey Curletta was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Alex Santana was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

The game:  Cedar Rapids scored two in the first and one in the second to take a 3-0 lead.  The Kernels put the game away with a four-run fourth.  A two-run triple by Wade was the highlight of the inning.

Of note:  Engelb Vielma was 1-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
