Friday Music Day: May 16, 2014

I just came across these mid-90s hip-hop music video programs last night.
EAR will be dog-sitting for her sister for much of the weekend (payback for so much child care), so I may just dial these up instead of watching a movie or something.
Here's one. I can't vouch for it being SFW, as I only watched about 10 minutes.

    1. For some reason that comment reminds me of the time back in college when I was working a closing shift at the DQ with my roommate and some damn students came in right at closing and wouldn't leave. My roommate thought he could get them to leave by playing some Korn song really loudly and I was like, "dude, their college kids. Look, their singing along."

  4. I saw Gary Louris at Hopkins Center for the Arts on Tuesday night. Compared with the run of concerts I have seen lately, it was low key but enjoyable. He did mention that the Jayhawks are going to be playing a date at First Avenue in the fall.

  5. I used to make playlists for Elaine on special occasions. Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc. Unfortunately 9 years ago her brother died suddenly from a heart attack. She wanted me to put together a playlist with all kind of sad and mopey songs. I said screw that and made this play list instead. I thought it would be nice to share it today.

            1. This is definitely a remake I'm on board with. I'd love to see it in the theaters, but I hate theaters and they cost too much so I'll have to wait until its on Netflix so I can watch it in 720p glory with 15 year-old speakers.

              1. My brother worked on it (second on-screen credit!), he said it's really good (which is not something he says about a number of the movies he works on).

                1. the SF Chronicle review was not positive. Maybe they were butthurt about their city being destroyed.

                  1. Metacritic score is 61. That's right around where Pacific Rim was.

I don't expect Godzilla to be half as fun as Pacific Rim, but I have hopes for it.

                    1. I no longer expect anything to be half as fun as Pacific Rim was, but if I've learned anything from movies like this its that critics don't seem to be as excited about them as they should be.

                2. I wonder if he knows my friend Jon's wife Nancy, who was the ADR Supervisor?

The ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) supervisor is responsible for the replacement of production dialogue that is unusable due to poor sound quality, script changes, and so on. For example, an actor's voice may be obscured by the sound of an airplane flying overhead during the filming of a scene, or by speaking too softly for the microphone to pick up. Substitutions also may be necessary to accommodate dialogue changes or to clarify a plot point.
