Minor Details: Games of June 4

Rochester sweeps!  Eddie Rosario gets over .300!  The DSL Twins get their first win!

ROCHESTER 7, CHARLOTTE 5 IN CHARLOTTE (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Batting starsEric Farris was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Dan Rohlfing was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer.  Doug Bernier was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his third) and two runs.

Pitching starMichael Tonkin pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Jordan Danks was 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run homer, his fourth.  Josh Phegley was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his seventh.

The game:  Danks hit a two-run homer in the first, but Rochester answered in the second, as Rohlfing hit a three-run homer and Bernier followed with a two-run blast to give the Red Wings a 5-2 lead.  It didn't last long, as Tyler Saladino tripled and scored in the second and Phegley hit a two-run homer in the third to tie it at five.  There was no more scoring until the sixth, when Wilkin Ramirez came through with a two-run single.  Charlotte did not get a hit after the third inning.

Of noteDeibinson Romero was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Chris Colabello wsa 1-for-2 with two walks.  Pedro Florimon was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.

ROCHESTER 9, CHARLOTTE 5 IN CHARLOTTE (GAME 2--7 INNINGS--ROCHESTER DESIGNATED HOME TEAM)

Batting starsDaniel Ortiz was 2-for-3 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in four.  Brad Nelson was 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two.  James Beresford was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Matt Davidson was 2-for-3 with a home run, his eighth.  Jordan Danks was 1-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and two runs.

The gameChris Colabello had a two-run single to highlight a five-run first.  Charlotte scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth to cut the lead to 5-3.  Ortiz then hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run fifth to go up 9-3 and put the game out of reach.

Of noteEric Farris was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Deibinson Romero was 1-for-1 with three walks and a run.  Colabello was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  Starter Scott Diamond pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

AKRON 9, NEW BRITAIN 6 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starsReynaldo Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with two doubles scoring three times and driving in one.  Nate Hanson was 3-for-5 with a run.  Mike Kvasnicka was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Pitching starsRyan O'Rourke struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Jim Fuller struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.  Lester Oliveros pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Joe Wendle was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer (his sixth) and scored three times.  Bryan LaHair was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, driving in four.  Alex Levisky was 4-for-5 with two runs.

The game:  Each team scored three in the first, but Wendle hit a two-run homer to put Akron in the lead for good at 5-3.  Each team scored once in the fourth, but the Rubber Ducks added one in the fifth and two in the sixth to go up 9-4.

Of noteCorey Wimberly was 0-for-5.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Starter Tyler Duffey pitched four innings, giving up six runs on ten hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

LAKELAND 10, FORT MYERS 3 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starsEddie Rosario was 3-for-4 with an RBI, raising his average to .308.  Stuart Turner was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a run.

Pitching starMadison Boer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Curt Powell was 5-for-5 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in three.  Chad Wright was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times.  James Robbins was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, his seventh.

The game:  Fort Myers took a 2-0 lead in the third, but it was all downhill from there.  Robbins hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run fourth to make it 4-2 Lakeland.  The Flying Tigers added two in the fifth, two in the seventh, and two in the eighth and the Miracle did not get back into the game.

Of noteJorge Polanco was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-4 with a double.  Stephen Wickens was 0-for-4.  Starter D. J. Baxendale pitched five innings, giving up six runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Alex Wimmers pitched three innings of relief, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits a walk with six strikeouts.

WISCONSIN 6, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN WISCONSIN

Batting starsMitch Garver was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Chad Christensen was 2-for-4 with a run.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Michael Ratterree was 1-forr-3 witth a doublee, scorring oncee and drriving in ttwo.  Clint Coulter was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his eleventh.  Taylor Brennan was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fifth.

The game:  Ratterree doubled in two in the first to give Wisconsin a 2-0 lead.  Cedar Rapids scored single runs in the third and fourth to tie the score at two.  Each team scored twice in the sixth to keep it tied at four.  In the ninth, Brennan hit a walk-off two-run homer.

Of noteRyan Walker was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Starter Aaron Slegers pitched seven innings, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

DSL TWINS 2, DSL WHITE SOX 0 AT DSL TWINS

Batting starsLewin Diaz was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk, scoring twice.  Carlos Martinez was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Pitching starsJose Ramirez pitched four innings, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Gabriel Rosario struck out four in three innings, giving up three hits.  Daulin Ramirez struck out two in two innings, giving up two hits.

Opposition stars:  Carlos Perez was 3-for-3 with a double.  Nelson Acosta pitched three shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

The gameDiaz homered in the fourth to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth, Diaz walked, took second on a wild pitch, and scored on a Martinez double.  The White Sox did not get a man past second base.
