Half-Baked Hall: 1902 Election Results

Before we get to the results, I want to shout out to Scot at Coffeyville Whirlwind for profiling our electorate. Awesome stuff.

We had an excellent turnout this time with 24 voters chiming in. Let's welcome AMR and Can of Corn to the ranks!  And I'm confident in saying that their presence affected the outcomes. We'll leave it up to you to decide whether or not that's a good thing.

Jim McCormick

Jim McCormick began with 48% of the vote and steadily rose from there. On his fifth ballot, he confidently strides into the Half-Baked Hall with 79% of the electorate on his side.

John Clarkson

John Clarkson received 62% of the vote on his first two swings. The third time was a charm, as he also rocketed to a cool 79% to receive induction.

Roger Conner

Roger Connor, thought by some to be a slam-dunk candidate, notched just 57% of the vote on his first ballot. But he walks in on the second ballot as the third member this voting period to pull down 79% of the voters.

Billy Hamilton

Finally, Billy Hamilton becomes our fourth player to win induction on his first ballot. The speedster who scored more runs than games played steals a spot in the hallowed halls with 75% of the vote.

Remaining On The Ballot (17 Players)

Deacon White is making a final push before his last time on the ballot. Pud Galvin has a significant jump as well, hitting the 50% marker for the first time.

Jack Glasscock: 67% +0
King Kelly: 67% +10
Deacon White: 63% +15
Pud Galvin: 50% +12
Amos Rusie: 50%
Bob Caruthers: 46% +3
Candy Cummings: 42% -6
Pete Browning: 38% +9
Harry Stovey: 38% -5
Charlie Comiskey: 33% -5
Buck Ewing: 33% +9
Monte Ward: 33% +4
Paul Hines: 29% +5
Dave Orr: 29% +0
Lip Pike: 29% -4
Bid McPhee: 25% -4
Cupid Childs: 13%

Falling Off The Ballot (9 Players)

If you look at the graphs, it looks like Silver King is over the 25% mark. However, two voters overused their allotment of Maybe votes, and they both gave King a maybe. So I invalidated those.

Otherwise, no surprises here. Five new guys getting no support.

Dummy Hoy: 8%
Silver King: 8% +3
Jack Clements: 4%
Jack Stivetts: 4% -6
Ted Breintenstein: 0%
Nig Cuppy: 0%
Pink Hawley: 0%
Mike Smith: 0%
Guy Weyhing: 0%

Enjoy your new Half-Baked Hall members! Hat tip to hungry joe for updating the design of the plaques for the turn of the century.  I'll be gone for a little while. Expect the next ballot sometime in late July.

  1. So it looks like somebody accidentally voted twice in this election and I didn't catch it until now. That didn't keep anybody from dropping off the ballots but it did allow Billy Hamilton to be elected. He would have had 74% of the vote otherwise. Unless anyone has strong objections I'm going to let his nomination stand.

    1. I don't know how I voted twice (spreadsheet lists me twice, so I assume it's me) so I'll stay out of this decision.

      1. Since Billy Hamilton is going to get elected to the WGOM HOF twice anyway, I'm ok with that.

      2. This is a loophole we may want to close before brianS votes 20 times for Dave Orr.

  2. Breaking News: It turns out the double vote and the excessive maybe votes did send someone above 25%. Cupid Childs is being kicked off the ballot.

  3. Excellent analysis, execution, and presentation. Thanks for doing all of this, Beau. Well played, Sir.
