  1. Challenger for my favorite lyrics excerpt:

There's something I was supposed to remember
Or something I was supposed to forget.
I know that it was one of the two,
I may have already done it.

The Citizens "Domingo Hirsch and His Internal Flying Circus"

  2. The last time the Twins were swept was almost exactly a month ago, July 18-20 by the Rays. Let's keep that sweepless streak going today!
(The last time the Twins did the sweeping was almost exactly two months ago, four games against the Sox, June 19-22.)

        1. Here's hoping! I'm way over in section S, so I think I'll come down to where you guys are.

Now we just need DPWY to hide out somewhere in the stadium to snap a grainy photo . . .

  3. You know him...you love him...

ID the AU -- name the Twins player (former or current, or both) who signs his name like so:
    AU

Also, I had to share this one -- just barely won the auction on this beauty (#d to 99). Spent a bit more than I would normally (just under two sawbucks), so I told Mrs. Runner "thanks" for the early birthday present 😉
    killer

    1. My folks saw the killer give a talk a number of years ago in 'peterville. The coolest thing they've ever given me for Christmas was a ball signed by the man himself.

  4. Can of Corn, if you're still in let's plan to meet on the plaza at noon, by the big glove. I'm wearing light khaki cargo pants and an olive green golf shirt.

    1. I have a meeting at 11 that may run a bit long, and another that I should probably leave early to attend...long way of saying I'll see you if you'll have me.

  5. I've been asked to participate in a profile by one of the larger entities in my field on campus. The questionnaire has a mixture of serious and unserious questions. The one I'm hung up on is "Actor who would play you in a movie?," which got me thinking about who would best play the various folks around here.

      1. It's funny, because you're really more of a Sam The Eagle type, IRL.

I don't think I like any of the actors who come to mind to play me. Pre-weight loss Jonah Hill is probably the most flattering one.

          1. I'm not a fan of her on "The Daily Show" or "30 Rock", but man oh man do I love Louise Belcher.

      1. That's my pick for myself, BTW.

I've been told I look like Zac Posen by a girl once. She seemed very surprised when I replied "You mean acclaimed American designer Zac Posen?"
        "..."
        "Yeah, I watch Project Runway"

        1. if he had shorter hair, I can certainly see that.

Gotta watch what we say here -- even now hungry joe is probably accumulating photos for his next WGOM collage

      1. "friends" used to compare me to Jack Sikma. The younger, straight-haired Sonics version, I hope, not the permed-hair mid-career one. But, sadly, increasingly the assistant coach version.

    1. The comparison I've gotten the most often is Daniel Radcliffe, which I'd be fine with. He seems like a cool dude.

    2. William Hurt. Particularly Accidental Tourist William Hurt, although I'd prefer more Dune miniseries William Hurt. He'll need a hairpiece, however.

  6. Watched the latest episode of Hotel Hell last night. It takes place in my hometown. I suppose I recognized a couple employees. One had the same last name as my mother’s maiden name, so I’m probably related to her. All the customers in the restaurant were unfamiliar to me. Safe to say there was a lot of acting in this particular reality show.

      1. I'm thinking about avoiding a particular symbol that turns up following "d" and prior to "f", but it took about 1/6th of an hour to script this, so I will probably not go that path.

    1. I don't think anything has changed. The font is loaded from Google Fonts, so if there are any issues there then that would affect us.

    1. You guys are ruining everything now!

except I only see it in your images. My browser must be superior.

  7. Wow -- did not realize it, but the Twins pitchers are back to their stingy ways with fewest walks allowed in the AL this season. And somehow Twins batters are 4th in the AL in walks, just three walks away from 2nd place.

  8. Woah!

The Wolves will receive Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett, 76ers forward Thaddeus Young and a trade exception believed to be worth at least $4 million that they can use to acquire a player in the next year without being strapped by salary-cap rules.

That's a great haul for Love, Mbah a Moute and Shved. I thought Wiggins was going to the Sixers, but the Sixers will get a first-round pick from the Cavs that was originally a Heat pick.

    1. I was going they'd be able to keep the pick as well, and would rather have that over Bennett. But I suppose I should give flip credit for this one. A little sad to lose Shved, though. Gonna have to change my fantasy team now, i guess.
