    1. Very cool.

Some of those names appear an awful lot of those categories. I kind of wish I knew one of those people, and frequently got to sample their efforts.

    1. They have to hope that a "Horse Collar" tackle doesn't end up being the reason for any season-ending injuries over there.

  1. The Target Field edition of Operation Encounter AMR (and Twayn and CoC) was a success! But it very nearly was not. While trying to track them down, I took a photo of AMR's empty seat, fearing this might be all I had to show for my efforts.

    1. Pepper, it was a pleasure to finally meet you at the Concourse Caucus. CoC and AMR, thanks for the beer. It was a most enjoyable businessman's special.

    2. I like it.
My co-worker said "Someone named 'Pepper' came looking for you."
Then he asked if your parents had given you that name. I replied that I think it's your last name, but I'm not exactly sure.
It was fun seeing y'all and I was a bit bummed that I had to go back to entertain the visiting Japanese businessmen. (Yoshi to my seat's left, Sako to its right.)

Thanks again for the book. Spooky will be pleased he's not getting a copy.

        1. Yes, from the same place as the two dudes I went to meet.
A few years ago, I took Tricia with a leftover work ticket a few years ago.
So I got to tell the whole office that, no this isn't my wife -- she's home with the kids! -- this is a friend from the internet.
I think they all heard quotation marks around those last four words.

          1. The WGOM: your source for wine*, women**, and song***

            *or beer-drinking companions
            **well, one anyway
            ***hey, this one's true

    1. Something people following Jeff's minor league reports already knew! I check for Hicks every time.

      1. have we had an ex-Twins checkup lately?

I ask only because I noticed that two of the top 3 NLers in BA are ex-Twins (and Span is also in the top 10). So there's a very real chance of back-to-back ex-Twins as NL batting champs.

  2. Along the lines of recent attention to Phil Hughes' awesomeness (warning: weird selection ahead):
Right now he has the third-lowest K:BB in history, for a pitcher with at least 162 IP. Only Saberhagen (1994) and Cliff Lee (2010) are ahead of him.

    1. Third-lowest? Sounds like what the Twins always have with people that can't strike out anyone.

    1. I was a little worried about you until I ran this phrase through google and found it was a quote from Randball's Stu's article. I haven't read it yet, but I've been giggling every time I read the headline.

  3. MLB blackouts may be a thing of the past next year.

The digital media company of Major League Baseball is close to relaxing blackout restrictions for games streamed to computers and mobile devices. Bob Bowman, CEO of MLB Advanced Media reiterated in an interview with The Assocoated Press that the gap continues to close in which those currently affected by blackouts of games in the local television market would be able to watch the streamed games.
    ...

β€œEveryone’s trying to solve it,” Bowman said to The AP. β€œIf our hands were 4 feet apart three or four years ago, they are now 6 inches apart,” Bowman said. β€œWe’re moving in the right way. We continue to talk. The dialogue is professional.”

    1. The biggest obstacle is advertisers. The streamed games don't have the same ads between innings. Makes sense because the regional audience those ads on TV are designed for are unable to watch. I wonder if the blackouts are gone if that means the streamed games will show the same ads. It could mean some lost revenue for MLBAM, but I would think that they would get a substantial increase in subscriptions since the majority of baseball fans live in the market of their favorite team.
