Sunday, Aug. 31: Why not?

Jose Berrios was just promoted to AAA Rochester to make an important start in their final desperate push for a playoff spot. Danny Santana was promoted to the majors after about a month at AAA. Kennys Vargas was promoted straight from AA. Berrios has always been considered the superior prospect. Why shouldn't he be a rotation candidate next spring for the Twins?

  1. So, we took the plunge yesterday to purchase a new washing machine (to replace one we bought in 1993): a Whirlpool WTW5810BW (top-loading HE washer). Interwebz reviews on mid-priced HE washers are all over the place, when you can find them. And this appears to be an older, perhaps close-out model. Main concern (I think) is a plastic locking clip on the lid. But at $549 plus delivery/setup/haul-away, it looks like a pretty good deal. I'll be reporting on performance (or at least the mrs' assessments thereof) in the weeks to come.

    1. I've found it's almost impossible to find consistent reviews of appliances online. Customer reviews are near worthless, as so many people will only review anything when they have a major problem.

  2. A's trade for Adam Dunn. Another left-handed bat? I don't see what he provides over Brandon Moss. Small samples, but Dunn has beenpretty useless against lefties, whereas Moss has hit them almost as well as righties.

    1. I'm trying to fight the knee-jerk reaction that since the A's made this move it must be a good move.

  3. REMINDER: BLEAGUE DRAFT TONIGHT AT 8:30PM

WE NEED ONE MORE TEAM! We have an odd number, need one more. Let me know and I'll send an invite.

    1. DRAFT POSTPONED

Obviously, we're going to need an extra team, so let me know if you're in.

      1. If no one else has any interest, I'll play just to give allow the league to form. I don't promise to be very active, though, so if someone who would be active wants to play I'll step aside for them.

        1. Invite sent to the email you're using for the .org.

Sorry, padre, if you have a strong burning desire to join, we'll set you up πŸ˜‰ You're help is certainly appreciated.

      1. A while back, I had several concurrent minor mutant comic strips going with NBBW. Using minimalist art-work, I'd send a comic trip-tych to the fax machine at whatever hotel she was staying at on work-trips. Most recent series:

Asbestos Woman (her wearing a mask/cape, flying off to Debbie's to get a broken nail fixed while the Nepaug dam is collapsing).

Time-Zone Boy (minor mutant who changes the time zone to affect events, like the Jello not being set for a dinner party). Side-kick: Sports Watch.

The Bond Buyer (nerdy over-expresso'd financial-type who impresses his girl-friend by the surety of bonds over equities).

Mike and the Bees (Miguel y las Abejas) - featuring me in a pith helmet and my close friend Greg, a bee.
