2014 Game 153: Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins

The Twins are one shy of matching their 2013 win total. Ten games remain, so reaching 70 wins is possible, especially with three games against the D'backs, I think they'll fall just shy.

    1. agreed

and September rosters should have an inactive list, like in hockey. You can carry 35 players, but only say 27 can be active for the game.

        1. But not in September. I think an active roster of 25 for any game would be fine. In September, that would still be an extra three or four relievers to replace the starters.

          1. Sorry, I have an æsthetic preference for the chaos of the rules changing during the playoff push.

Expanded bullpens are the price we must pay for five potential pinch-runners and -hitters.

                  1. Th ligatures do exist, though not everyone is in favor of them.

I mentioned ridiculous ligatures—at the top of my list is the Th ligature included among the default ligatures in certain Adobe fonts, like Minion. It’s pure frippery, amputating two perfectly good letters to make one ungainly hybrid. Worse, because Th is such a common letter combination, the ligature shows up all the time. Just say no. (To the ligature, but also to Minion—see minion alternatives for why.)

                    1. I see his/her point with that font, or at least the execution thereof.
There should be a better solution.
Surely, this is a case where it would make some sense with sans-serif fonts, unlike the examples with fs.
So much space there between the T and h.

    2. How about: mid-inning pitching change is a balk? Runners advance but if your pitcher just gave up a dinger or two you can get him out of there.
      Or second of game/inning?
