Fall Festival: Games of October 30

Surprise surprises Salt River in the ninth.  Aaron pronounces judgment on Mesa.  A seventh-inning rally carries Glendale.

SURPRISE 5, SALT RIVER 4 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4 with a run.  Zack Jones struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up only a walk.

Surprise:  John Hicks (Seattle) was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double.  Mallex Smith (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Aaron Kurcz (Boston) struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and no walks.

Salt River:  Trevor Story (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring once.  Peter O'Brien (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Edgar Olmos (Miami) pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit.

The game:  Salt River led 4-3 after eight.  Hicks homered with one out in the ninth to tie it and Smith walked and scored the go-ahead run on a ground out.

SCOTTSDALE 7, MESA 5 IN MESA

Scottsdale:  Aaron Judge (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with two two-run homers (his third and fourth) and a walk.  Roman Quinn (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a triple and two walks, scoring twice and driving in two.  Steven Okert (San Francisco) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Mesa:  Jacob Hannemann (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.  Kaleb Cowart (Angels) was 3-for-4 with a run.  Derek Self (Washington) pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

The game:  Scottsdale scored five in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead.  Quinn had a two-run triple and Judge a two-run homer in the inning.  Mesa closed to 7-4 after six but did not score again until the ninth and did not get the tying run on base.

GLENDALE 4, PEORIA 1 IN PEORIA

Glendale:  Garabez Rosa (Baltimore) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Scott Schebler (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Zach Davies (Baltimore) pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Peoria:  Hunter Dozier (Kansas City) was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Dylan Baker (Cleveland) pitched three innings, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with no strikeouts.

The game:  Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh with an RBI single.  Rosa doubled in a run later in the inning.  Peoria got the tying run up to bat with two out in the ninth.
