Venezuelan View: Games of October 30

Margarita comes from behind twice.  A pitchers' duel in Magallanes.  Anzoategui gets a big lead early.

MARGARITA 6, LA GUAIRA 5 IN MARGARITA (12 INNINGS)

Twins:  Aaron Hicks was 0-for-4 with two walks.

La Guaira:  Alex Cabrera was 1-for-4 with a home run (his third) and two walks.  Jose Martinez (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Buddy Baumann (Kansas City) pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Margarita:  Junior Sosa (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-2 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Alberto Gonzalez was 2-for-5 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Wilfredo Ramirez pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Margarita trailed 4-1 after eight, but a two-run double by Manny Pina (Detroit) and a wild pitch tied the score in the ninth.  Odubel Herrera (Texas) homered in the top of the twelfth to give La Guaira a 5-4 lead, but RBI singles by Gonzalez and Sosa won the game for Margarita.

MAGALLANES 1, LARA 0 IN MAGALLANES

Lara:  Paulo Orlando (Kansas CIty) was 2-for-4.  Ericson Leonora (Yankees) was 1-for-2 with a double.  Cesar Jimenez (Philadelphia) pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Magallanes:  Jake Opitz (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Ronny Cedeno (Arizona) was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Bobby Blevins (Dodgers) pitched 6.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

The game:  The game's lone run came in the third, when Cedeno doubled and scored on an Adonis Garcia (Yankees) single.  Lara's best scoring chance came in the third, when they had men on first and third with one out.

ANZOATEGUI 6, CARACAS 2 IN CARACAS

Anzoategui:  Niuman Romero (Baltimore) was 2-for-6 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Balbino Fuenmayor (Toronto) was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fourth.  Jack Snodgrass (San Francisco) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Caracas:  Luis Antonio Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Danry Vasquez (Houston) was 0-for-1 with two walks and a run.  Yoimer Camacho (Arizona) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits with one strikeout.

The game:  Oscar Salazar had a two-run single in the first and Romero had a two-run double in a three-run second that gave Anzoategui a 5-0 lead that was never threatened.

ZULIA 6, ARAGUA 0 IN ARAGUA

Zulia:  Jose Pirela (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.  Mark Minicozzi (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two.  Jeremy Kehrt (Dodgers) pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and two walks.

Aragua:  Mike Hessman (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Argenis Diaz (Arizona) was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.  Jose Ortega (Detroit) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Minicozzi's two-run double in the sixth made it 3-0 and Pirela had a two-run triple as part of a three-run seventh that made it 6-0.  Aragua got a man to third in the second and the fifth but did not get anyone past first after that.
