1. The Internet made a Minnesota-Nebraska rivalry trophy actually worth caring about

   1. It's a certainly a better trophy than all those made-up ones (Heroes, Freedom, etc.) that the B1G is forcing on everybody.

   2. I had assumed it was a chair Bo Pelini broke in a fit of anger.

2. From Chris Jaffe:

   Today Joel Hodgson is 20,000 days old and has still not been killed by a forklift.

3. As an old fuddy-duddy who remembers the Bud Grant years, I can certainly get behind the sentiment that the Vikings lost trademark toughness in move to Metrodome.

4. Stop me if you've heard something like this from a Twins pitching coach before:

   Asked to describe his pitching philosophy, Allen said in a 2010 interview with the Sarasota Herald Tribune: “I attack the zone. I’m not a guy, as you well know when I was a closer — I’m not a guy who picks and feels my way. I’m not afraid of contact. I don’t want them to be afraid of contact, I want them to put the ball in play. I don’t like base on balls.”

   1. Oh, well that's good. The more things change, and all that.

                  Lowe's writing is in a class by itself. Super knowledgeable, yet bitingly funny.
